I hear you, and some mighty fine reasoning. I like the camaraderie and that the guys are gelling. I wonder when Kahun will see his buddy from the kings? Maybe SB gets some other OHL players?
I don't think it's every 14th post. You've been breaking that pretty frequently. - I Am The Breadman
Does anyone know what the maximum term that can be given to Strome with making him a UFA at the end?
It would be nice to see Kubalik and make an impact like Kahun, but I’m not holding my breath. |

I think EbonyRaptor said Delia got a 3 year deal which makes him a ufa instead of a rfa, so 3 years.
I agree on Kubalik. I was just making a point on camaraderie, but I like the 2nd line to much to screw with it. |

I know about them, but don't remember using it. I know dialup.
A lot of my friends talk in text and have said kk. I like some abbreviations, as a teacher candidate, I've learned some useful ones, but some are just so dumb. Kk is one of them ... too close to something else. - I Am The Breadman
Working with college students I hear a lot of terms that I need them to explain what they mean. A few that come to mind are "that's lit" and "full send" and a couple others. Once I learn the meanings, I teach my boss and challenge her to weave those terms into formal correspondences with upper administration. |

Guess you can say this about any prospect but Kubalik is a wildcard. He could be an absolute nothing, a Panik with one good 20/20 year to tease you with no encore performance, a contributory but unspectacular regular, or a Panarin gem. Don't know enough about Kubalik to know which one he may be. |

Full send, as far as I know, is a questionable one to teach. That's lit ... that's under the hate category for me, haha. |

Forsberg for Motte? - DarthKane
I'd be down for a trade like that. Forsberg doesn't seem to have a future with the Hawks. I liked what Motte brings as a bottom 6 forward even during his brief stint with the Hawks before getting traded. More experience now and may thrive under Colliton. Motte is small but stocky and built like a fire hydrant. |

What a great extension. Delia at 1 million Cap hit over 3 years. Wow. Great security blanket, as he has played very well since coming over.
Now, if Strome would extend at reasonable amount Stan will have done EXTREMELY well with these couple of acquisitions. |

Great test tonight folks. I see our win streak ending...but, we get a point. 5-4 B's in overtime. Should be a good one though, love the energy we have been playing with!!! |

Pass. He’s not worth that much. Burakovsky is a 30 point forward, nothing special. - DarthKane
What's burakovsky ceiling maybe that's the question? I think he is more than a 30 point player but other teams better assets to trade for him only put that trade out to maybe show hawks would have package to get him. Washington is up against the cap so they would want prospects and picks imo.

Despite their recent push I can see Kruger being dealt, maybe Kunitz if he agrees to it. - DarthKane
I don't think Kunitz goes anywhere because he doesn't have much left in the tank and he's got a NMC.
I do think Kruger has value (Hawks could retain some $$) and I think you see Hayden dealt as well.
You could call up Johnson and Martinsen to replace them at this point. |

What's the point in trading one of the only guys who throws a body check? Martinesenn sucks, he has zero offensive capability. At least Hayden shows a little something offensively in the 4 minutes he plays each night. Furthermore, what can you hope to get for Hayden? You're not getting a top 4 D back, not really saving any cap space, there is no one any good ready to take his spot. In fact, Johnson and Martensin have LESS upside than Hayden. |

I hope not. Would rather see them hang onto him and give him a defined role in the bottom 6 next season. Think he's played pretty well of late.

Man, the F depth in Rockford is not good. You have to figure Stan is looking at a Top 9 F in free agency. There is no impact F in Rockford to call up, and I include D Sikura. Not sold on his game at the NHL level.
Lots of tough holes to fill. I think they really have to move whatever they can at the TDL if they want to be a true contender within 1-2 yrs |

Part of dealing Hayden is shedding a contract. Obvuously not about the cap, but they can only have 50 players under contract. The Hawks are at 47 right now. They will need all the room they can get this summer for adding players. Johnson and Martinsen are also expiring contracts, fwiw.
Aside from that, who wants to be playing only 6 to 7 minutes a night and merely playing enforcer? If another team envisions a bigger role for him (not saying this is the case here), the Hawks owe it to him to let him explore the opportunity. |

On your last point I agree. If someone believes Hayden is ready for a bigger role, then that means the Hawks could get a higher return. But to trade a young guy, big guy, someone who hits and gets to the net (something NOT in long supply with this team) just to "get rid of him" and replace him with replacement level (non)talent just makes no sense. |

Agree with everything but that part. It's definitely better than it was a few months ago starting with the additions of Strome and Caggiula.
No actual evidence but just something I've noticed more is someone usually standing at the net. Maybe in addition to that being part of some these players' makeup, it's being preached by Colliton to the team. |

From the Herald this morning...
No. 1,000 on hold:
Dylan Sikura, who was called up from Rockford on Monday, will take Chris Kunitz's spot in the lineup at Boston on Tuesday. Kunitz will play his 1,000th NHL game at the United Center on Thursday when the Hawks host New Jersey.
Sikura has 13 goals and 17 assists in 40 games with the IceHogs. He also has 3 assists in 11 games with the Hawks.
Slap shots:
The NHL named Dylan Strome (2G, 5A in three games) as the Third Star of the week. … |

D-Yes I know both Dylan and Drake goto the net. My comment was "not in long supply". I'd argue Toews and Anisimov also goto the net. I do agree, the team is much less a perimeter team ever since we traded off Brian Boitano for Strome and got Drake, but I still say having a quality fourth liner who has reasonable puck skills and gets to the dirty areas is an asset. Hayden and Caggiula are our two best hitters. There is no good reason to move Hayden and replace him with AHL bench fodder. YES, if someone wants to give up a nice asset then sure. But to move him "just to get rid of him" is poor asset management. |

Hayden ever goes with a legit enforcer he's going to need that college education cuz he won't be playing any more hockey. - 6628
John Scott as a degree, right? Just pointing that out is all... but, I agree Hayden is not an 'enforcer', dude is just another grinder at this point.

Hey Wolf, no worries. Was just saying it's better than it was and certainly in a while in terms of Hawk players going to the net.
We essentially agree and if you read my other post, I said the same thing about trading Hayden as you...not sure why they'd want to do it unless someone offers something they may actually like better (true NHL asset). |

Delia being signed through the 21-22 season makes him eligible for the Seattle expansion draft in case the Hawks find, in their mind, a better goaltender between now and then that they want to protect.
