On your last point I agree. If someone believes Hayden is ready for a bigger role, then that means the Hawks could get a higher return. But to trade a young guy, big guy, someone who hits and gets to the net (something NOT in long supply with this team) just to "get rid of him" and replace him with replacement level (non)talent just makes no sense. - kwolf68
I get the points about his physicality. And I had high hopes when I saw his first NHL goal. It really was a beauty. I have to wonder how he ended up in this spot, seemingly having to accept this role just to hang on in the show. JC has coached him here and in Rockford now, so I have to think he has formed an opinion on him, even if part of me thinks there is an untapped part of his game we have yet to see. It doesn't look like it will happen here, if it is ever to happen anywhere. So I say trade him and give him a change of scenery. That's where I come from on this. |

I would like to see the Hawks keep the current roster the rest of the year and let them battle to make the playoffs.
The only moves I would like to see is to take on a player with some cap to help out a team like Washington or TB and get some quality prospects to do it. They currently have 4.55M so that us enough to take on a player.
At the end of this season there is more players coming off the books and at that point Stan can make descsions on who to keep and maybe add a couple free agents like Dezingle and Stralman.
Stralman will help the back end until the young D prospects are ready.
I can also see Anisimov being dealt after July1st. |

Guess you can say this about any prospect but Kubalik is a wildcard. He could be an absolute nothing, a Panik with one good 20/20 year to tease you with no encore performance, a contributory but unspectacular regular, or a Panarin gem. Don't know enough about Kubalik to know which one he may be. - AEL_Fox
7th round draft choice in 2013. 23 years old. He played a couple of years in the OHL in 2013 and 2014, but the last 5 years in Europe. He leads the Swiss league in scoring 49 points in 41 games. Maybe he likes it there. Maybe his buddy Kahun will talk him into coming over here. I don't think he's the next Panarin.

Maybe not but I'd settle for another Kahun. Believe he's a bit bigger too. |

Hayden is also signed for $750k for next season. Someone bound for cap hell like TOR or TB may find him to be very valuable. I find him to be misused and hate seeing young players in the press box 50% of the time. Give him a role and let him play so you can see what you have. |

I do not understand and the trade Hayden talk!!!! He is a serviceable player signed to a good contract is the 5-7 round pick worth it. He has shown he can play well in spurts . I’m sure there’s someone else on the 50 man who can be released before Hayden if we’re looking to add a contract slot. |

Morning Tyler, a blog topic , I'm sure it's crossing your mind. what are options and possible effects for Hawks sneaking into playoffs if Crow comes back. it seems like a good problem to have |

Trading AA for a prospect or pick while signing Dzingel to replace him would be quite the coup. Forsling for Kapanen or Puljujarvi would be a nice flip too.
I also wonder who TB will move to extend Point. Only Kucherov, Miller, and Gourde signed without NTC plus they have 3 aging d-men as UFA |

I've been up and down with Hayden and believe if he gets a little more consistent time he would be a much more useful player.
I love that he's one of the only true physical forces up front.
I brought it up however based on what I'm hearing. There has been a lot of whispers that the Hawks are up for trading him and teams have inquired about him.
Hayden would be a perfect fit on a team like Toronto who needs a bit more muscle in their bottom 6. |

What's the point in trading one of the only guys who throws a body check? Martinesenn sucks, he has zero offensive capability. At least Hayden shows a little something offensively in the 4 minutes he plays each night. Furthermore, what can you hope to get for Hayden? You're not getting a top 4 D back, not really saving any cap space, there is no one any good ready to take his spot. In fact, Johnson and Martensin have LESS upside than Hayden. - kwolf68
Are you related to Hayden? Every time someone mentions trading him or how he isn't that good you get your panties in a wad. He's a fringe NHL player with little speed and hasn't shown he's more what so ever |

I think EbonyRaptor said Delia got a 3 year deal which makes him a ufa instead of a rfa, so 3 years.
I agree on Kubalik. I was just making a point on camaraderie, but I like the 2nd line to much to screw with it. - I Am The Breadman
I wasn't sure but I think it's either some number of years in the NHL or by a certain age. I'm not sure what the number of years is but I think the age is 27. Delia is 24 so 3 years would put him at 27. Just a guess on my part.

Strahlman is 33 and a right handed shot. You already have Seabrook, Murphy, and Joki as right handed shots next year, pass on Strahlman

trading him for a late round pick?; not sure this gets them anywhere...he is known and under contract a big forward yes he gets lost out there most of the time
maybe part of a package you move him but i am agreement with other posters who say play out the season with what you got; maybe a kunitz goes and go to work over the summer |

Like Jimmy Hayes was, Hayden is nothing special but with the roster constructed as it is right now he is OK because his salary and term are insignificant. Skating and foot speed will always be the reason he is a 4th liner in the NHL. (Drafted just ahead of Jake Guentzel and Pavel Buschnevich btw). When the team talent level improves, ultimately he will be a throw in as part of a multi player trade. |

I would hate to give up on a young player who is on team friendly deal. His consistency on playing time is a factor however it seems to me like he's well consistently... Inconsistent. What do you think if he was traded what the return would /could look like. |

If a player is slow then he needs to be smart. Unfortunately Hayden isn't that. He really has no idea what to do with or without the puck. I like that he works hard but hard work with no direction doesn't amount to much. That is why I'd like the Hawks to be patient with Perlini. While he hasn't shown any hockey smarts either and actually appears quite lazy he has that speed and shot that you'd love to see on the Hawks. The other thing about Perlini that drives me crazy is he's always on his ass. Between them Perlini has more potential but he may prove to be a dud down the road. |

The other question that needs to be asked is: Who do you put in place of Hayden? It does not seem realistic to move AA, Kruger, and others as some are proposing without replacements for them. Many are willing to give these players up for nothing so what do we gain by moving them? What message does send to Kane, Toews, and company if they become playoff fodder for some WC team as a result? |

Was just reading an Athletic article ranking the most important trades in NHL history that never happened.
Interesting article though obviously flawed since it failed to include the franchise altering non trade of Patrick Sharp for two second rounders. |

Pin that no trade of Sh rp on Blowman. He had a chance but declined to take it. I read that on this site! |

To me Perlini fits into the same category as a Panik or Duclair or Mark McNeill - physically talented but either too lazy or not smart enough to play the NHL game consistently at a high level. That is why they are always available in trade. If Colliton can develop Perlini into something decent it will be a feather in his cap. Too bad he can't be sent down to Rockford without clearing waivers.
But the question about smarts on the ice is valid - not that many guys can play effectively with Crosby, Toews, Bergeron, Scheiffle etc. As an example, Brad Marchand may be a total jerk but he is smart enough and talented enough to take advantage of playing along side Bergeron. |

So you want to trade him to replace him with a "fringe NHL player". Makes a lot of sense. Johnson and Martinesen both stink, and neither are as good as Hayden. I could care less if they trade Hayden, but what's the point? To get a 5th round pick? To get another "fringe NHL" player. Hayden is 23 years old and has shown way more than either of the two clods folks project to replace him with, even while playing 5 minutes a night.
You aren't going to get a Top 4 D for him, won't get anyone any better for the role he plays. Won't even really save cap space.
The reason for a trade is to deal with the aforementioned issues, so basically no reason to trade him.
Sure if Colorado will trade us tyson barrie for him (frank) it do it. But that's not realistic obviously, so my question with Hayden trade rumors is, what's the point? |

But that talent is why Perlini will capture the imagination of a GM or coach who thinks he can make that talent flourish. It's why the Hawks held on to Leddy so long and why the Leafs are holding on to Gardiner. You hate to see all that talent go to waste or not be fully realized because the player doesn't think the game well enough to take full advantage of it. |

I personally don't care if they trade him or not. His only good attribute is he has a decent shot. I've never seen him make a pass after he does his stupid stop and go turns down low where he either falls down or gets the puck stripped. I'm just curious as to why you're so bothered by any negative things being said about him. Which are usually true too by the way. There are plenty of bottom line guys that can do what he does and do it better that won't cost a lot too |
