The bigger issue is how Bowman wasn’t able to parlay Sharp into 2 first rounders.

I wasn't sure but I think it's either some number of years in the NHL or by a certain age. I'm not sure what the number of years is but I think the age is 27. Delia is 24 so 3 years would put him at 27. Just a guess on my part. - EbonyRaptor
Ok, I knew you said you were unsure. Your guess is better than what I have to offer. Thanks though. |

Should've traded Sharp in 2012 to maximize the return of glorious cap space, and to load up the farm. That's where it's at, bra. |

So in regard to CD contract. A few guys that might make sense giving something similar are Slater koek, Dahlstrom, Kampf, and anton Forsberg has been really good in the AHL this year. .920 save % top guy in the league was colin and after that #2 is .922.
would you give any of these guys 3-5 year deals? I would be fine starting next year with Forsberg and colin. if we save money on the back end of the Roster you can spend more on the front.
guys that I would give shorter deals 2 but would still want 2 year deals would be forsling, Sikura and perlini. anything under 1075000 can be buried next year. So what is the harm do getting guys singed linger under that amount? if they end up not being NHL players you just send them to Rockford with no cap hit. fringe players would like some security I think. for a team like the hawks that is not a cash flow issue it makes so much sense.
tell me where I went wrong on this? |

The Leafs already have a Clydesdale on their 4th line - Freddie the Goat. - RickJ
True. Babcock is looking for more it sounds like.
The Leafs are last in the league in hits and he keeps reiterating that "playing heavy" style but Leafs don't quite have the personnel. |

I wouldn't give any of the above players a 3-5 year deal. Each still has more to prove before earning more term on a new contract. Max 2 years similar to Gustafsson's renewal.
Not sure if I'd resign Forsberg. On the fence with Forsling and Perlini; both need more time in Rockford but that's tough for Perlini as he'd have to go through waivers as others have stated.
Koekkoek has grown on me. Yes to resigning Dahlstrom, Kampf, and Sikura. |

I guess the Leafs are the new Blackhawks here. You don't need to hit when you have the puck although I don't know there possession numbers, which I assume are good. |

I have this feeling that the Hawks are going to come out flying, but Rask will stand on his head and like the Pens game, the B's will have like a 2-0 lead after facing like a 37-16 shot disadvantage. |

Possibly, but stats are indicating that the Hawks aren't even going to the tough areas enough. They are near the bottom (or might still be last) in penalties drawn.
The Hawks championship teams, while didn't need to hit a lot, still had hard-nosed players and drew a lot of penalties due to their fast pace and possession game. |

I'm guessing you meant 'wouldn't give any of the above players a 3-5 year deal'.
I'd resign Forsberg, he's had a good year and isn't anywhere near a bust status just because Delia exists. Most goalies don't hit full-time NHL starter or backup duty until their late 20s. He has good numbers and could be a steal if we get him at a low rate.
I'd give Perlini more time, he has the raw tools we like but just needs to work on how he plays. Arizona made the mistake of giving up too soon on Strome, it's likely they did the same with Perlini as well. I'd give Dahlstrom and Kampf cheap extensions for decent term (3-4 years) and worst case scenario you package them in a trade if they fall off a cliff in play. Sikura we should extend but he looks like he needs more development. Our forward prospect group is rather thin so I'm not big on shipping any of them out. |

Trying to type while at work so lots of opening and closing hiding windows... Yeah I meant "old championship Blackhawks" RE: strong possession and low hits. Right, we had the Shaws, Bollands, Browers and Ladds on those teams. |

We lost a lot of penalty draws with Shaw. Obviously not $5 Million worth but we lost a great pest. Even the Kane+Panarin years were great because if they got on the PP it was nearly an automatic goal with those two. |

Are you related to Hayden? Every time someone mentions trading him or how he isn't that good you get your panties in a wad. He's a fringe NHL player with little speed and hasn't shown he's more what so ever - GPHawksfan
I have seen mention regarding the balance Hayden has in his skating and along the boards. I question if he is full impact as he could. |

off course they all have more to prove. that is why you can get a longer term and a lower rate. Lets us Dahlstrom as a example. lets say you sign him on a 1 year bridge deal 850K then he spends all year in the NHL next year with Murp and they are the shot down pair. his next contract ends up at 2 years and 2 mil. then he is a UFA. I'm saying give him a 4 year deal at $975 and if he turns out to be not good enough you send him to Rockford and if he is a 4/5 LD you get him at 1 mil discount to sign strome and CAT. the only issue with signing guys longer is 1 its another contract of your 50 and having dead cap space, but anything under $0175 gets Buried, who cares if someone claims them if you send them down. that means they are sub NHL players. Lets say you are aggressive on going longer term with everybody I mention. 2-3 are going to look like steal of a contract. 2-3 are going to look like a waste and will be in the AHL. If the hawks want to improve they need some value contracts. you are hedging your bets plus with the cap going up some deals are going to look bigger after this summer.

Delia being signed through the 21-22 season makes him eligible for the Seattle expansion draft in case the Hawks find, in their mind, a better goaltender between now and then that they want to protect. - boilermaker100
Be interesting to see what transpires between now and then. Crawford’s will be on the last year of his current contract next season. |

You have forgotten one important thing...what the player wants.
Sure, you can offer these contracts, but not everyone is Collin Delia. Not everyone is Dylan Strome. Who knows what they want. Plus, there are other unknowns out there, like the goalie in the KHL...is he going to come over? Will he be any good? Will Crawford ever play again? When will the d-men in the minors be ready? These forwards in Juniors...will it translate to the NHL?
It's not as easy as a lot of people on this board think.
