He's been getting top opportunities with Duchene injuries and the lack of depth in Ottawa. He's probably a 45 point guy most of his career, which to me isn't enough for $5.5MM. He's a career 39% at the dot as well. I don't think he's awful, but he'll get overpaid if he gets $5.5. - ObeseOprah
Regardless of opportunities he may not have gotten if other players didn't miss some games - he has still scored 21 goals with 1/3 of the season to play. With only 8 points on the PP - most of his scoring is 5v5.

I know this is quite random, but does anyone know what happened to wingels? - ToewsdNKanefusd
Tommy Wingles is playing in the Swiss-A league on the same team with Jack Skille. |

i noticed something i hadnt seen since a playoff run during i think the 2nd period Sunday against DET.
A Hawk player (not sure who) dove head long to push the puck out of their own zone. Plays like that you normally do not see in the Reg Season - and i thought, wow, this is a team that is playing for each other - its been a while to see that
anyone else notice that? - glennjpawlak22
I caught it. Also thought it was unusual.

Not sure why it is unfortunate. He's been cleared to play, why shouldn't he be able to decide for himself if he wants to play? - mohel
Speaking for myself and the voices in my head, I kinda hope Crow just hangs them up. He has nothing left to prove. He has his money. Obvs, more to do with his long term health for me. |

Just read from the Ottawa Sun that Dzingel will ask for $5.5mil. in free agency. Nice player, but not worth that much. - LAHawk
He will get that and then some. I agree about the not worth it part but its easy to be mislead by just looking at his points.
If you take a look beyond that(not you, btw), there are some worrisome numbers there. Could be a guess of just being on a bad team but even in the decent years, they aren't all that pretty, |

Great point, on the positive, he also has been playing in Ottawa. He was a great player in their playoff run in 2017 I believe it was. |

I'm not sure Marcus Foligno is a heavyweight. I saw the fight and Hayden had his eyes closed when he hit him with the wild, lucky punch. I'll say again, Hayden goes with a legit heavy and someone spoon feeds him farina for quite a while. |

John Scott as a degree, right? Just pointing that out is all... but, I agree Hayden is not an 'enforcer', dude is just another grinder at this point. - SC116
Engineering degree from I think Michigan Tech |

Looking at his CoRel% his team neither benefit or is hurt when he is on the ice. He is at about 50/50 split on zone starts and has been on the ice for more SA the SF every year. Hawks need guys on the other end of that spectrum.
3 points in 14 games in those POs. So great may be a stretch. |

Agree 100% plus he has a kid and like remember special moments with his child. LTRI rest of this year and next. Hawks organization should do right by him and tell him to retire. Then bring him back when he is ready to be a goalie coach or some kind or role with the hawks. |

They can only LTIR Corey if he is not medically cleared to play. If the docs say he is that option goes away. |

Cody McLeod got benched for 2+ periods after a brutal penalty ended up in the back of the net. Besides Tom Wilson, who is a heavyweight goon these days? They are a dying breed. Call it grinder, call it modern day enforcer, whatever...Hayden is in the NHL to hit people |

If the guy wants to keep playing he is going to play. Just hope he makes the correct decision for his long term health.
Makes you wonder how many concussions guys like Glenn Hall, Terry Sawchuk, Johnny Bower and Gump and others had when goalie masks weren't used. Some of these goalies from another era lived to old age and others died young (Sawchuk, Bruce Gamble) from alcoholism, depression etc. |

And how much CTE played a part in your last comment. Those guys were flat out bad asses. Playing without a mask. Even before the advent of curved sticks and the increased use of the slap shot. No wonder Hall puked so much
Yep. At the end of the day, the decision rest with Crow. You don't get to the show by not being competitive. I can understand how it is hard for guys to just walk away |

9th out of 12 teams. The 2 worst teams are pretty bad with 9 and 12 wins in 42 games. Nobody noteworthy on those teams other than Shane Prince, Matt Gilroy, and Anders Lindback. |

True about Sawchuck having depression and being an alchoholic, didn't he die due to injuries received in a fight with Ron Stewart?

One mitigating factor was they weren't down on the ice as much as the current goalies are - I think they did pretty well in protecting their heads more. Much more stand-up saves, more athletic saves, less positional.
But - just remembering what I was watching back then.
