Vanek just turned 35. I think of him as 40+.
- Lunaion

It certainly feels like 20 years ago that he made his debut. As it is it'll be 16 since he's been drafted this year. Time flies.

I don’t know why people want this.

It will just make them angry

I want him here if he’s put in a position to do well. He won’t be

- sbroads24

Smith is a bottom 6 player at best at the NHL level though. We shouldn’t expect anything more.

Reinhart pointless in 3 straight.

And he’s playing well

Tough to produce with bad linemates

- sbroads24

Honestly if he needs a superstar to produce then he isn’t much of a producer.

He’s a good player but he does get overrated sometimes.

Sheary and Mittelstadt have actually done well lately so they aren’t as bad as players some make them out to be.

Good game last night - got a little nerve-wracking in the third but Ullmark made key saves and Larsson came up with a clutch goal, That Isles team has some pretty good talent on it ... looks like they've surpassed us. Barzal is insanely talented. They lost Tavares and they got better. Weird.

They also played a mind numbingly boring style for much of the game. It's no mystery how they got better: coaching.

Barzal is a prime example of why the Sabres need to keep all those firsts and swing for the fences with those picks, so to speak.

I wonder who's helped them do well? Hmm...

It's 3 games without a point. It happens to all players. Even Jack.

I'm hearing we may see a D man coming in.
- SABRES 89

It will be interesting if you hear more on this 89, please share.

edit- I wonder if it's Anaheim. Montour or Manson would be a nice pickup. I would prefer Montour, he's younger and on a better contract. I would also wonder if we could get Rakell. He's having an off year (who isn't in Anaheim) but he's on a good contract . It will cost though to get those guys.

Not doubting what 89 or anyone else hears.. buuuut we have 9 NHL defensemen right now. Rather, 8, and Casey Nelson must be up prior to Feb 22nd.

No question we have a lot of D men but that position needs marked improvement and if you can get a guy like Montour, you do it. I have a feeling Beaulieau is getting traded very soon. Like I said, getting these guys from Anaheim will cost. Love to see a McCabe-Montour pairing.

I assume so. Still leaves 8. Montour or Manson would be the second best dman on the team. So, there's that.

Getting Pesce would be difficult. Trades within your conference are tough and it would cost. I would kick the tires on Parayko or Forbort.

I think Calgary would be a good fit for him. Get Calgary's 4th this year (Isles).

Don't doubt it for a second. We need more guys that can control exits and entries. So far, Pilut and Dahlin are the only plus side dmen. While this stat is not the only statistic that makes a dman "good", it would greatly reduce dangerous shots against, while simultaneously allowing our forwards to set up in the Ozone. Thus, increasing xGF and reducing xGA. Something this team is in dire need of.

It's genuinely impressive that there are any defensemen on Anaheim that contribute to wins. Lindholm, Fowler and Montour all do that. Barely.
Scandella is killing us, if the eye test hasn't told you that yet.

And for those that want Getzlaf ( I don't), you just draft Rafael Lavoie imo. His game reminds me a lot of Getzlaf. Besides, Getzlaf has a NMC and highly doubtful he waives.

Technically I guess, yes.
There is no doubt they could use an upgrade at a few D positions...especially a RhD next to Dahlin.
If they were able to do that before the deadline, they could then make Bogo available and just dump Scandella (with or with out the RhD acquisition) ... clearing out some serious Cap a year early...retain 1/2 on each if necessary!
