Del Zotto wouldn't be a bad pick up. |

Getting Pesce would be difficult. Trades within your conference are tough and it would cost. I would kick the tires on Parayko or Forbort. - mhp
Carolina is fighting hard for the playoffs. Unless Pesce is viewed as a castoff that can be used to improve in other areas, or overpay with picks and prospects, I just don't see why Carolina would even consider it. He's also one of their best defensemen. |

Technically I guess, yes.
There is no doubt they could use an upgrade at a few D positions...especially a RhD next to Dahlin.
If they were able to do that before the deadline, they could then make Bogo available and just dump Scandella (with or with out the RhD acquisition) ... clearing out some serious Cap a year early...retain 1/2 on each if necessary! - IonSabres
Like I said. We'd have to move 2 to bring in 1. But it needs to happen. How the Sabres go about selling tin for gold is the challenge. |

blow boy 1 & 2
scandella
all three should be able to be moved.
edit.. nevermind bogo's contract makes him hard to move |

Agreed, and EVERY team is looking for a top pairing RhD, even if you have a stud, another doesnt hurt you.
Given the challenge is extremely difficult, perhaps the Sabdes could make life easier on themselves by moving Dahlin to the right, then looking for a top LhD to pair with him.
Another viable option is Anton Strahlman for couple/three years in FA where the cost in Assets would be much less, enabling investments elsewhere. |

Totally random fact:
The Stars have 145 goals for. The next closest playoff team has 163
Only 2 teams in the league have fewer goals - Kings and ducks |

I think Calgary would be a good fit for him. Get Calgary's 4th this year (Isles). - mhp
I'm good with that. If Beaulieu gets a 4th, we recouped the Sheary/Hunwick pick |

Jake Muzzin, a 29 yo mid pairing dman, cost a late 1st pick. I would use 2 on a young #2.
Blues 1st, Sharks 1st, Scandella, Olofsson for Chabot. |

That's such an odd team. The Stars barely changed the team and somehow Jim Montgomery has (frank)ed things up. |

And the issue with this trade deadline is there are too many teams in the playoff hunt, especially in the west. The east is a little more defined but how many teams will be sellers? I expect some muted activity at this deadline but fireworks at the draft. |

TDL is always a letdown. But the Sabres are in a position to buy and sell simultaneously, armed with resources and serviceable players. I know Jason loves his 1st rounders, but if he has the chance at a young proven talent, spend the (frank)ing cash and get him. |

He doesn't want to trade his 1sts for rentals but I think he would do it for a young player with term left. The 1sts we have right now are 15,16 and 28. I would say they could be moved for a guy he wants. |

Yeah I would hope he'd never use on a rental. I'm talking an RFA in his early 20's. |

man lehner is good. - IndianaSabresFan
I know that Lehner has had his personal problems but it is very frustrating that we paid a first rounder for him. Also, he had a contract with us (4 million per) that he did not live up to. |

It will be interesting if you hear more on this 89, please share.
edit- I wonder if it's Anaheim. Montour or Manson would be a nice pickup. I would prefer Montour, he's younger and on a better contract. I would also wonder if we could get Rakell. He's having an off year (who isn't in Anaheim) but he's on a good contract . It will cost though to get those guys. - mhp
That's who i would go after too. |

Defensive depth is always a valuable form of Murrancy though. More than a few teams will part with a mid rounder for a Beaulieu or Nelson methinks. Other than that, I expect nothing fun for the Sabres |

I am hoping they can get a 3rd for Pommer. (They have to sell that as "practically a 4th").
He is perfect as an INSURANCE piece (not the missing link) for serious contender.
Can play up and down lineup and not hurt you, can play 1st line for short periods of time in an emergency.

If the Sabres are still "in the hunt" in 10 days, I don't think they'll want to trade him. He's the 2nd best RW on this team, and there aren't any RWs to replace him in Rochester. If it all goes to poop, then maybe |

I don't disagree with your prediction of what they will do.
That said, IMO it is dumb, dumb, dumb...this roster needs a massive overhaul (5 pieces minimum) and they needs to maximize their Bottcoines as much as possible. A 3rd rounder could be a nice throw-in to acquire a desired talent.
Botts simply should maximize his options for the future.
Pommer, Blow-U, Bogo, Scandella, Slobotka etc. are just not part of the future.
A another magical "run to 9th" is just not in their best interests.
Get rid of thd trash, tell the remaining boys Addition by Subtraction...now go win if you want to get into the playoffs. |

Their schedule up to the TD. It's a favorable schedule, gotta get 8-10 points out of it to stay in the hunt.
