My impression is that most here look at when a goal is scored that the player directly involved is to blame. They don’t see any of the play that lead up to the scoring chance.

The sharks are playing a very structured system, the Canucks are winging it and trying to capitalize on lucky bounces.

The sharks create space and time to move the puck, don’t panic with the puck and know where to slot the puck because someone fills that space, it’s quite nice to watch well coached teams.

Canucks are the total opposite, when pressured they panic and try to force a puck through to the corners hopeful that someone will beat the opposition and throw a cross ice pass to anyone fortunate to be there...which is rarely.

Men (sharks) against boys, fire green and the entire coaching staff with the exception of Maholtra and goalie coach. Forget his name.

Green isn’t going anywhere. He is doing a great job with an awful roster. I suspect he will be in the NHL for a long time

Why waste a contract on a marginal AHL goalie ?

I get a chuckle over making an opinion only to have it dismissed as “a loss to one of the hottest teams in the league and the sky is falling”

I have stated my opinion on green for a couple of years, so I’ll try a different method. Can anyone tell me what is the system that Green has them playing? How can a team regularly be outshot for over 10 minutes to START a game be prepared? How can a team that has played 55 games together not know how to make a pass? How is it that every player tries over and over to skate the puck out of the defensive zone and turns it over at a 90% rate. Why does the power play have one set breakout play? Skate to centre ice, turn and pass the puck to the trailing guy, who turns it over.

My only conclusion will be that after next year everyone will be calling for Green to be canned. I’m just ahead on this one..

Are you asking for a name for the system? Like, “Left wing rotating Dman rover lockdown”?

I agree, part of it is being prepared, and it doesn’t look like they are many nights, but I attribute that to the veteran leadership. I’m sure coaches spend the time going over tape with the players. They’ve shown them the expectation, they’ve practiced the drills, but the players can’t execute the simplest plays because they just aren’t great players (with obvious exceptions).

There was a game during the win streak, against Nashville, where Goody literally couldn’t hit the tape of his d partner from 6’ away. Is that Bombers fault?

For the remainder of a season where number of contracts and cap space aren’t an issue? Who cares?

Benning does apparently. They must have plans for the 4 remaining contract spots one would assume. One will be used on a an NCAA player. One will be used on a an actual decent AHL goalie when they have the opp. So two spots left for trades. Leighton is brutal

It was a bad call by Green starting Dipietro last night. Marky didn't appear to have 'tweaked' his groin enough to not play. Yes, our D is very bad right now, but still it was a poor coaching call.
- LordHumungous

That’s a pretty terrible assumption. You, from the confines of your home watching on TV, know how much/that Marky tweaked or didn’t tweak something? Green said he didn’t want to ride him and make the tweak something bigger where marky was out weeks/months. His choice was based on that, not his fault he only had the two to work with.

I disagree. He was lit up by Calgary and then to go into the next game the sharks clearly would have been bad. They gave the kid a shot. We all knew it would be bad. Get over it. Nobody’s feelings were hurt.

I agree (Leighton is several years past his expiry date), but I think you give Bensey too much credit.

For instance, he could have waited a day to make the trade with the Sens, if McKenna clears they make the deal, if not... of he could have asked for one of their AHL goalies. They had so many they were loaning them to other teams.

I guess Minivan is having the last laugh out there in sunny ‘just outside Winnipeg’. It’s been snowing two days straight with no end in sight and Central Saanich has one old truck with a plow - meaning our residential dead end street has two feet of snow.

My coach in bantam made the critical mistake of going with the “right wing rotating Dman rover lockdown” and it lost us the championship.

This was Comets GM Ryan Johnson, exactly one month ago, about the organization needing to find another goalie.

One month ago.

I can’t copy the image, but basically it says the Canucks have known for a month that they are in a goaltending pickle and haven’t found a way out.

This wasn’t about McKenna. This was about getting rid of a bad contract and creating space for Demko. Even if he didnt clear waivers in advance of the trade they would have still done the deal. At the time, no other team would take Nilsson

I disagree. I think Green has done a good job with what he has had. Brown needs to go, it's not 2011 anymore so his systems don't work. I think we are like 3/40 on the PP over the last 14 games or something like that?

You’re wrong. Canucks have been looking for an AHL goalie for a while. Kuby has been pretty good, but they have zero depth with Bachy injured. Yes, trading Nilly was supposed to provide opportunity for Demmer, but they absolutely needed an AHL/NHL option in return.
