"A learning experience" - manvanfan
Handling adversity at a young age is important. I have no doubt he will be better for it. He got to live out his childhood dream. How many here have actually done that? |

You’re wrong. Canucks have been looking for an AHL goalie for a while. Kuby has been pretty good, but they have zero depth with Bachy injured. Yes, trading Nilly was supposed to provide opportunity for Demmer, but they absolutely needed an AHL/NHL option in return. - 1970vintage
So you are telling me nobody in the front office thought that McKenna may be claimed? That’s laughable. I’m sure they knew it was a possibility but they didn’t care. They wanted Nilsson gone. Of course they would prefer if McKenna cleared |

I disagree. I think Green has done a good job with what he has had. Brown needs to go, it's not 2011 anymore so his systems don't work. I think we are like 3/40 on the PP over the last 14 games or something like that? - 93Nucks
.500 hockey team that certainly is having growing pains. Parts of the play get better and others get worse. |

hes a 35 year old AHL (at best) goalie, i didn't think he would get claimed either. |

Yup, nobody in the front office is smart enough. They made a rash decision to get Nilly gone because they were worried about feelings? |

One month ago.
I can’t copy the image, but basically it says the Canucks have known for a month that they are in a goaltending pickle and haven’t found a way out. - 1970vintage
Bad drafting. Goalies take the longest, then defenceman, skinny forwards. Power forwards, skilled forwards, elite, generation.
Van have developed up to defencemen from the first of JB drafts. |

Thanks for your input, it’s great when someone can make an opinion and others counter without resorting to trash talking.
PP is atrocious, defense play scared, continually turn the puck over. The team is not prepared for game action.
Regardless of talent, a good coach would strategize and use his players to their strengths, not try to run and gun with powerhouse teams.
Again I’m ahead of the curve, fire Green and the lot of them. |

You are also forgetting about Hughes. Hughes, one NCAA/ junior signing and a goalie and we have one contract space. Not a lot of flexibility for the TDL |

Trash talking is more fun sunshine
I don't know if it's outwardly noticeable but I was a bit of a yapper when I played, this thread is like my game time lol. |

There should be bodies heading out the door at the deadline, not coming the other way. Unfortunately, those aren’t hockey deals, so I expect more Nilsson for McKenna type trades. |

Hopefully we don’t fix the goaltending and we pick top 5 again (frank) Mikey’s feelings |

Don't even start with the defense . I think the assistants should go (not Malhotra and Clarke) and not Green. I don't know I just like what he has done, and I figure if we keep the same coach for more than 2 years, he improves when the talent does. Look at Edmonton, they've had how many coaches over the last few years? |

there might be sunshine in Oman, but there is 2 feet of snow on the roads of Metchosin.
For the record, it is outwardly noticeable, and nothing wrong with trash talking as long as it doesn’t develop into insults and hurt feelings |

I guess Minivan is having the last laugh out there in sunny ‘just outside Winnipeg’. It’s been snowing two days straight with no end in sight and Central Saanich has one old truck with a plow - meaning our residential dead end street has two feet of snow. - 1970vintage

We should trade Markstrom for a coveted 6th round pick and ride Mikey with Kulbakov as the back up. Then we get Kakko and Mikey will finally turn into a man |

I don't think Mikey's feelings were hurt, it was just another easy reason to throw darts at Benning for being stupid. |

Mikey handled the press really well after the game. He's such a positive kid that I don't think this will do any long term damage. He looked more comfortable as the game went on. Still, it's pretty crazy that Benning let the situation get to this point. McKenna was claimed off waivers 5 weeks ago and we only have 46 NHL contracts currently. |
