We have too many TVR's already, maybe a bigger deal, would love Slavin. - LAHawk

Teuvo just signed a new contract and is on pace for 70+ points this year. He's not going anywhere. - BINGO!
Sounds like a long shot to me. |

CAR talking about AA...hmm...
I trade AA for Justin Williams, an expiring contract, and don't resign him next year. Creates $4.4MM in cap for next year. Pure salary dump.
Big mistake IMO if Stan makes a move just to improve this year's playoff chances. |

Williams is their Captain though, hard time believing he would be the return. Maybe AA, a solid prospect for Ferland |

Well supposedly Stan is looking to only do deals that he considers helping the Hawks, TVR doesn't do that, even with dumping Anisimov's salary

If McD is telling Stan to make moves to try a playoff run this year then he will do exactly that. But I like the idea of taking Williams in a trade for AA. Frees up $$$ |

If true, more proof McD hasn't a clue, and it is more about making good on his erroneous assessment at the beginning of the year that this is a playoff team.
Smells to me like someone has either a bonus, or a job riding on making the playoffs. |

How do you know McD meddles with player moves and decisions? |

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you. It also comes down to money. Teams/owners like that playoff gate money. Even if its for only 2 home games. |

Dumping AA's money is more than net revenue from two home games would be.
Watch - Gus goes with AA for Faulk. |

Question on Faulk: Has his game fallen off, or is this so they can loosen up the log jam of D prospects they have in the fold? |

He seems to be on pace - should finish 30ish points again but turned his horrible +/- around this year. The +/- thing could also be the tilt the ice impact of having Williams and Niederreiter driving possession on the walls for the top six. Something that would also help the Hawks immensely right now. |

Hope it's not Faulk. If the Hawks are going to acquire a D man, it needs to be someone who is reliable playing defense and doing so beyond this year. Offense is a plus. Not vice versa. Contract should also be affordable and with little term left (1-2 years is ideal). |

I agree.
If it is Faulk, or another offense first D man, then you know that is the style of play the FO wants to push from the back end. |

Faulk is an offensive minded defenseman with deficiencies in his own zone. We have a player like that for much cheaper. |

The argument could be made that a trade of AA for Williams would improve this year's playoff chances. |

Potentially, yes. So if that were a possibility then I guess I would wait to make any deals until after the season is over, unless the exchange is for prospects/picks.

I don’t know. As long as Stan doesn’t have to include anything else going the other way, you can kind of have your cake and eat it too (depending on what side of the tank/playoffs coin you are on). |

We're in a goddamn playoff race and he's the Captain. |

Question on Faulk: Has his game fallen off, or is this so they can loosen up the log jam of D prospects they have in the fold? - nickmo2699
I think a little bit of both. His game has fallen off a bit, and his Defensive game hasn't been the best. With the guys the currently have there they like them more than Faulk.
Also, the main thing, besides the need for a Top 6 Forward, is the fact the D prospect they got from Calgary Adam Fox who is looking to sign a deal after his Junior season is completed this year. They want to be able to get him under contract before they run into a Kevin Hayes situation especially since there has been some speculation that he wants to play for the Rangers due to where he grew up at. Not to mention they still have their top D prospect Jake Bean in the AHL as well too.
I would be interested in making a deal of AA + for one of their D-men to get someone who can jump in and help this teams overall D right now and going forward. Idk if Faulk is the right guy to do that, but who know's

Agree with you. We have Gus for another year, so he's our comparison. A stay-at-home dman or someone for the bottom 6 is preferable, but picks and prospects are also welcome, if this is a trade SB is looking at. |
