Trades are coming....
Saw on the Tweets that Edmonton and Vancouver are working on a deal, something along the lines of Gagner for Spooner. - DarthKane
Then Stan flips AdB and reunites Kane with Gagner? |

Why TF would two Canadian teams make an in-division trade for two star players |

Gagner for Spooner done.
Now that the BIG dominoes have fallen, we should see the 2nd tier of Stone, Duchesne, etc moving.
Brace yourselves!!!! |

Rumor outta Ottawa is Duchesne offered 8x8. Not my first choice....but if he wanted 8x8 from the Hawks, he is 28 now...just turned 28. That takes him to 36 or 37.
Any interest?? Toews...Duchesne...Strome down the middle??
Just spit-balling...... |

I think DeBrincat-Strome are going to be the second pair duo for years to come. I don't think it makes sense to bring in a 2C.
The team needs a 3C (an upgrade over AA). Guys like Eric Staal make a lot of sense on a short-term deal if the 'Hawks are ready to contend as soon as next season. |

And that is exactly what they should do. They need a number 1 dman and he could be the guy.
They guy to move is Murphy
Then go -
Gus & EK
Keith & Joki
Koekkoek & Seabs & Dahlstrom - PatShart
So you would Give Karlsson 11 a year (That is what he is looking for) for a guy who doesn't play defense and you call him a #1 D man. Ok

OK...How about Duchesne as a winger for Toews
Duchesne - Toews - Kane
***** - Strome - DeBrincat
***** - ****** - Saad

I think if the Hawks are pursuing a top-six winger, I really, really like Stone as a better compliment.
He's a Marian Hossa-lite. |

Absolutely agreed. Not a big fan of Duchesne. Just thought if the rumor of 8 million was out there, that is a very reasonable amount for a 2nd line center or top line winger who will get you a point a game or more.
I think Stone will want closer to 10. And Karlsson 11 or 11.5.
So, if we were to add a piece going forward long term, I kinda like the 8 million figure to give us a little more CAP space to address other needs... |

More trading card stuff. Panarin is not coming to Chicago. He's looking to get paid and the Hawks can't afford him, especially with the concerns on defense and other resigns coming up. Simply not practical to be discussing him. Hawks are having NO PROBLEM scoring from their top two lines. Build the defense and add a solid depth center. - kwolf68
My current thinking is along the same lines. Panarin doesn't fill a need. He would be a nice to have but not a must have. Focus first on fillilng the most haves and think about nice to haves if cap space remains (and slots are available).
The team needs defense, both D men and forwards who can play well in their own end, and a solid 200-foot 3C. The 3rd line should be filled by guys who can net 35-45 points apiece.
It's going to be frustrating if Kampf is a 3rd liner next year. It's fine this year with the lack of depth. He has the makings of a stellar 4C so round out the 3rd line to allow him to slot properly. |

I liked Panarin a lot while he was here, but give me Mark Stone over him for next year if the Hawks swing big for a forward. - Justin Lowe
Stone is the better all round player and he won't pack up his gear on April 15 and go home to Magnitigorsk when the NHL paycheques stop. I will puke if Bowman resigns Panarin at big numbers.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Jets traded Patrick Laine's lazy ass to Ottawa for Stone if they can get him under contract. |

Would someone who watches Rockford please tell me who is more NHL ready between Gilbert and Hillman? Also, do either have a second-pairing ceiling, or are they 3rd pair/AHL dmen? - tvetter
Hillman had the edge during the first few months of the season but Gilbert has pulled ahead. Gilbert's game reminds me of what we're seeing in Koekkoek but more consistently physical than Slater. Either way, Hillman and Gilbert are nothing more than 3rd pair and likely 6/7 types.
Of any Hog defenders, Carlsson is the only one who could potentially play above 3rd pair. If he continues his positive development, I could see him potentially pairing up with Boqvist to provide balance with one offensive wizard and a defensive stalwart. They have familiarity with one another having been partners on Swedish junior teams. |

You mentioned Caggiula - why is he here because of another horrid UFA signing by Stan in Manning. - DK002
Maybe Stan signed Manning specifically to have him available to trade should Caggiula become available. Long range planning. |

Saad Toews Stone
Caggiula AA Kane
Cat Strome Kahun
? Kampf?
That would be interesting next year, and i put Saad on line 1 because of how productive he was with Hossa and Toews

One of the beauty things about Mark Stone is he is but 26 years old. He may just keep inching toward Hossa-level performance. |

Since they are both from Winnipeg I'm sure the centerman on that Stone line might know something about him.
Not likely to happen though, the Jets will be all over Stone. |

So with Koekkoek getting all this love in the press does it mean he starts again tonight? |

For sure
When I was younger i used to dream up all kinds of scenarios.
If u r really into that sort of stuff then check into the strat o matic type games or the card dice games with matrices. In the late 1980's Face Off was an accurate game if you replayed an NHL season. It was created and sold way back then by Bob Frost of Bloomington Il. He was an IL State grad with a few young kids and he did programming IT work. I can attest the veracity of the game back then as I was in a league for a few years. We drafted traded and what a pain to play all those games.
ADD years later I heard a computer could play the games for you. But you loose the home rink coaching strategy shift by shift. |

So with the hawks trying to make the playoffs, does that stop recalls, unless (knock on wood) there is an injury? Or will there still be a cup of coffee or two to some young guys? |
