Yeah we get the Munsters up here, ever since we got electricity and all them new fangled inventions like televisions.
You must be in your glory now that the Hawks aren't doing so well. You certainly weren't happy when they were winning. Still upset about "Lead Pipe" being traded? - paulr
Glad to hear the 20th century found you!
No glory. Either way.
Nick is thriving under Trotz.
Lowest GA in entire league is a testament to player buy-in.

Trotz has been coaching the Isles for 5 years? - kwolf68
Really, Leddy has been on the island for 5 years and is just now thriving. He has played in the NHL for 9 seasons and not playing up to his perceived ability. Is it all the previous coaches to include the infamous Q or is he just an average player? Dont get me wrong, like Troz but he could never get the participation ribbon trashville team over the hump... |

Trotz had almost no offensive talent in Nashville. He finally got talent in Washington and won a Cup. And he's having a terrific season with the Isles.
I think Savvy's point about Leddy is trotz has been good for him and Leddy's game has ticked up another level working with him. |

Point taken, and my point is it took Leddy 9 seasons to become above average. |

I think he has been above average for most years since leaving Chicago. He has had a couple down years, a really horrible year and most of the rest of the time hes been a very capable top 4 guy. |

Exactly kwolf.
But that point would be lost on most here.
He's had some up/down seasons there -- last year was the absolute worst and he has admitted it. Instead of Barry throwing the guy under the bus, he's worked with him and I think has him believing in himself again. Results speak volumes.
Have noticed Barry has him back on PK duty as well when for the longest time, he wasn't part of that special teams group. We'll see what Barry can do with the club, they are definitely short of offensive firepower but has them playing great D which is always in vogue in the playoffs. |

I could imagine Panarin being acquired by the Isles for a playoff run if Columbus decides to move him. Anyone know if they have assets to give up for him? |

Totally agree with this post. Trotz has proven yet again he can get the most out of his team. They subtract John Tavares and get better? The Nashville teams he coached were the most pedestrian teams I've ever seen, virtually no elite talent yet they were without a doubt some of the toughest teams to beat.
He gets talent, he wins a Cup, taking perennial chokers in Washington to lifting the Cup.
What he is doing with the Isles is amazing to see. But he's replicating that Nashville thing over there, taking a team with solid D and sparse offensive talent and beating every other team who is supposed to be better. |

Hmmm he skates good puts up 40ish points a year and isnt horrid defensively and usually flips the ice. Fine second pairing and power play guy. Did a good job covering for rozy when here. I dunno what yall expect from the kid. He's also only 27 which is kind of cool. That -42 is super impressive but crap happens sometimes.
His cap hit is appropriate for the skill set (probs a bargain at this point) and he's better than just about everyone on the Hawks not named Connor Murphy at this point.
Don't get why people dont like him.
Anyway, he's probably the ceiling on most of those lil guys they have now so get used to seeing 3 of those guys on ice at the same time soon. |

Still need more snarl on the top six. It's why the shots against are imbalanced. Not winning board battles in the O zone and not winning enough 50/50 in the NZ. Still counting too much on fast breaks and speed to get quick goals. See: last BOS game - Return of the Roar
I completely agree with this. As everything is, it's a process, low and behold we have 2 scoring lines now, honestly we haven't had that since 2016. The power play is tremendous, something we've never had.
Alone with these 2 things they are better than half the teams in the league.
Boston did rag doll them on the ice, but instead of feeling sorry for themselves they came out and handled the Devils.
I believe the Hawks would be better off drafting higher, but unfortunately it doesn't matter what we think.
Until they can actually get as many wins as regulation losses there's no playoffs.

AA's bonus this summer is always talked about as an impediment to trading him. Does a salary floor team trade for him without salary being retained, or are they waiting until after the bonus gets paid? And from my armchair here, I don't have the contract info on all the other players, so I don't know the answer to who has a similar contract situation and can come back in a trade.
We know Torts loved coaching him, so what kind of deal can happen with Columbus?
Anyway, I don't think this contract will be easy to trade, or it probably would have happened by now.
Another question is who takes his spot in the lineup if he does get dealt? - 333inthe3rd
How about AA, Forsling, and a 4th rounder for Josh Anderson? Would that be enough for Columbus?
The Hawks have two 4th round picks this year |

Jury is out on Colliton - idiotic scheme of man-to-man D and also needs to be smarter on match-ups (certainly not to the extent of Q but I think he's done a poor job of that).
What I'd really like to know is what moron is coaching the PK?
It's the same passive scheme under Q and even more ineffective.
Pressure the puck, take away time and space and the success rate goes up with the right guys out on the ice.
Not sold at all on Gus (gets WAY too much TOI) but am really liking the size, speed and decision-making I've seen from CooCoo. More #68 and no more #42.
How's that Bogie? - savvyone-1
I've seen enough of Forsling and Dahlstrom. Both are not good, and both belong in Rockford. You wanna be serious about making the playoffs? Then Joki needs to be here instead of these 2 clowns. Forsling is afraid of his own shadow, and all Murphy does now is try to cover up all of Dahlstroms mistakes. How he is here and Joki is in the minors is a joke.

I think it’s less that people here don’t like him than that some thought - and kept posting long after he was gone - that he would have been pushing Keith for best defenseman on the team had Stan resigned him instead of going for Oduya.
It seemed at times to be a way of going after Stan’s and Q’s deficiencies rather than having much (if anything) to do with Leddy’s attributes. |

They aren’t better than half of the teams in the league - they are in the group of bubble teams trying to FINISH in the top half and make the post-season.
They could just as easily wind up at 14th or 15th in the conference as 8th.
