I still see Beaulieu being traded for Puljujarvi or Burakovsky with the Sabres adding a pick (maybe a 3rd or a 4th.) All three players seem to need a change of scenery and the Caps have traded for a defenseman every trade deadline for at least nine years.

But it’s bonkers to think EDM will dump him for a 3rd pair (at best) defenseman & a 3rd round pick

Even the Caps would probably want a 2nd
And the pick would be the main piece in the deal with Beaulieu tacked on
He doesn’t have much trade value

See, this makes more sense than literally any team in the NHL wanting Nylander. And it has an explanation.

Nylander has almost zero value outside of Buffalo at this point, IMO. He hasn't shown anything and he won't be part of a 1 for 1 trade.

Like I said, I will eat my words if he is.

Not sold on him & he will probably cost too much for the risk

Puljujarvi still has some interesting potential as a good 2nd line, 2way type
I’d explore him depending on the price

I’m very interested to see what Botts does this offseason as far as roster construction goes
There’s a lot of good players that are brought up on here,
but many of them don’t seem to fit the type of mold Botts is supposedly looking for

Jesse Puljujarvi has not been good at either professional level really. This might be their last chance to get something back. That's why I said it wouldn't surprise me if he was swapped for Nylander. It's kinda in the same vein as Kassian for Hodgson. A chance at reclamation. The Sabres would probably add a bit.
