And with that goal the Tom has risen

That first overall pick is calling my name. Some trades and nice long losing streak gets the Rangers right into the mix.

Well you'd better acquire the Oilers 1st then, cause we all know what's gonna happen come lottery day.

It’ll be the Ottawa pick. It’s been fated since that trade was made

Now you call timeout? Lol
- 2sticks1puck

Like A.V., Quinn has to learn when its best and urgent to use his timeout. He should have called it after the 1st face off during that 4:00 power play.
Quinn and the team (minus Georgiev) got what they deserved, as a result of their timid start in the 3rd on that power play, with their slow movement, repeated drop passes in the neutral zone, and failure to get enough shots to the net, resulting in only 2 scoring chances in the close to 4:00 left in it to start the 3rd.
That was the turning point of the game.

I too fear this outcome.

Oh well, Kakko will still look good in blue and orange.

Stinks to lose, but this team just doesn't quit. Easy to cheer/root for a team like this.
Can't wait to see what the team looks like after the trading deadline!

I agree, I’d rather have a team that tries and just isn’t good enough, than to watch guys dog it like the early 2000s

Their failure to get enough pucks to the net on that power play not only turned the game around, but also resulted in their first game they allowed more than 4 goals (including empty netters) since the 7-5 loss at Columbus at Jan. 13th, which was 13 games ago.

So its not really all Hank's fault after all why they have trouble defeating Pittsburgh, and nor was it Georgiev's fault today, especially with 2 goals going in after deflecting off their own players, and the Penguins first 4 goals all coming from their back liners.

Had they approached and played that 4:00 power play in the same way they pressured the Penguins with Georgiev pulled to cut the lead to 6-5 with 18 seconds left in the game, the result would have been likely different.

Their first shot on that 4:00 power play wasn't taken until Deangelo shot wide from the left circle with 2:17 remaining on it.

When asked after the game about the officiating, Quinn said that "the ref told him he had a rough first two periods in calling the game". Quinn didn't specify which ref told him that, nor when so, if at the end of the 2nd, or prior to the start of or during the 3rd. Bad calls and missed calls went both ways, but none worse than that made up penalty call on Zibby for tapping a Penguins player into the boards, resulting in a Penguins power play goal. With Francois St. Laurent (along with Graham Skilliter) being the two, I wonder why the bad calls for at least those against the Rangers.

Their effort was there throughout, minus being lost on that 4:00 power play, as reflected by their 44 - 41 SOG advantage, despite when including the Rangers 18 blocked shots to the Penguins 10, Pittsburgh had the Shot Attempts advantage in shots that would have reached the net overall at 59-54.

But of key notable interest, is that the Rangers out hit the Penguins 57 - 34.
That made it only the third time in their history that a Rangers team had a minimum of 40 SOG and 40 HITS in the same game. The prior two times that occurred was in 2012 against the Panthers, and in 2009 against the Penguins as well.

That's "ironic" in thought to a certain someone on here daily, who wants most of the older than 22 age on the roster sold at the deadline for picks for many tanking seasons still to come.

Trade Zucc Hayes Nam Fast McQuaid. Try to get rid of Shattenkirk and Smith, probably won’t happen but try.

You want irony?

It's a must at minimum, that either Smith or Shatty be dealt by the deadline or in the off season, or if not possible, to at least buy Smith's contract out this summer. They need to both create further cap space to spend significantly, and make room for a roster spot for next season if Lindgren will be NHL ready for good, and should either Claesson or McQuaid be later re-signed if either are traded as deadline rentals.

If necessary to trade Smith, they could retain 50% of his 2 years combined $8.7M remaining salary, and also save slightly over $2M in combined cap space over the next 4 seasons in contrast to buying him out over that term. They could also retain some % of Shatty's also 2 years money left, since he is too costly to buy out this summer, in having for the 2020/21 season alone, a $6,083,333 cap hit charge of his 4 years total buyout price of $10,533,332.

Of Zucc and Hayes, Hayes will not be dealt unless young NHL ready talent is coming in part in exchange. Last night, there was even word that the Rangers were now talking to his agent. Of Namestnikov and Fast, I could see them moving Nam. and keeping Fast in needing to retain that type of role player.

The clip I heard within 20 to 30 minutes after the game ended had Quinn stating only those exact words I mentioned in quotes on the officiating. It was only via audio, and may have been a cut-off edited version, due to a number of other unrelated questions asked one after the other by Rangers', Penguins', and possibly other reporters from other sources in the approximate 5 minutes length time. My slight delay in posting it was due to adding all in the same comment, the other info. on the game stats, including the 57 hits made by the Rangers, and that it was the third time in their history in having a minimum of 40 SOG and 40 HITS in a regular season game.

Pionk took a stick in the eye, DQ said. Coach said he was held out of the third for “precautionary” reasons.
