I see a guy who is trying to provide whatever value he can, who has pride in his game, and one willing to take on a role to best help the team with what little he has left. He is trying 120%.
He knows his production is far below his contract.
I like most (you too I assume) feel bad for him, and think this offseason will be a come-to-Jesus time for him. - IonSabres
Oh I get what he's doing, but he's not a fighter, and it's a horrible idea for him to do that. Also, I don't think he even got a penalty for the hit, so why accept the fight there? |

Stone over Duchene imo
I know Stone is a winger, but he’s just that good
Also,
Those 4 centers look great on paper,
but none of them are suited for tough defensive matchups - jdfitz77
Move mitts to the wing then and bring in a defensive 4th C. Get a defensively reliable RW to go on the top line. Our entire bottom 6 should be defensive oriented. Also the best defense is a good offense.

Do you think for 7 or 8 years? Maybe 8.25 for 7? - mhp
It may take more then 8.25, I don't know if I would go that high. |

sobotka-lockport larry-proof you don't need a lot of mid first rd picks gus - homiedclown
When the price of a guy like Girgs is $3-3.5M in a few years I’d happily take a mid first round pick that can play on an ELC on our 4th line. A guy like Girgensons can be imperative on a cup run. Without Danny Paille do the Bruins win a cup |

How can we put our young wingers (49,72) in the worst possible situation?
By playing them with Sobotka of course - sbroads24
It's a weird line. Playing Rodrigues on the left side of Mittelstadt is interesting. Smith would be fine next to Mitts, and Rodrigues on a different line at least offers some promise of depth scoring imo. Idk. Maybe it works |

Hopefully we trade a late pick for Lovejoy so we can roster ten defensemen. |

that's reasonable...however that third line has very little experience - Michael Pachla
Who cares how little experience they have?
The 4th line already plays more minutes then an average 4th line to take the d-zone draws and turn the ice in favor of the better offensive players to come in and take over.
In the end, the most productive lineup should be all that matters. |

Still ok with us trading for him?
Ugh
That guy needs to never see the ice in an offensive role |

Nobody was ok with it, but it was mandatory to even out the cap, especially with the Blues paying O'reilly's bonus. |

Sure
But this above lineup looks like a better roster construction when u think about actual game play
I’d prefer other guys than some of the ones u suggest, but this seems like the right general idea
Also,
Idk that the bottom6 has to be defensively oriented?
1 of the lines, for sure
But I’d prefer the other 3 lines to be more offensively oriented,
but can still be responsible enough defensively not to hurt us
After all,
we won’t be able to play our “defensive line” all the time against other teams top offensive threats |

Sure
If it raises his trade value at all
I said we should’ve played Okposo with Jack all year in the hopes that he’d get enough points that we could move him after the season to some sucker |

Ya, I agree that I'd rather have Stone.
They still need a 2C in the right profile...not exactly sure who that is myown self - IonSabres
While Center is an obvious need NOW...
as long as Mitts turns out to be what we all think he can develop into,
then it’s really not an issue when thinking about the long term roster construction of the team
We (most likely) aren’t competing for the Cup next year no matter what we do
So we don’t even need Mitts to be a stud by next season
Just need him to keep improving
In the short term at Center...
E Rod has looked good since they finally put him at 3C over Sobotka
And Larsson has held his own as our defensive center
While we could certainly upgrade at those spots
(Again, since we aren’t competing for the Cup NEXT year)
It’s not really an IMMEDIATE need
If we can find the right guy, at the right price... then great
If not, we do have guys like Asplund & Davidsson coming
And would still maintain the flexibility to add the RIGHT guy when a trade or future UFA presents itself |
