I think teams get lucky for a run of games. We’re a week away from the trade deadline and the isles are first in the metro and third in the league overall. It’s not luck at this point. Where you’re failing here is your lack of importance being places on Barry Trotz. The same guy who took a basically perennial negative plus/minus Ovechkin and made him a cup winner. It’s that same theory that took your non powerhouse 2006 Canes to the finals and win with Laviolette. For the record, Lehner AND Greiss are factors, but wasn’t that the plan for a team who gave up the most goals in the league last year?? What you’re seeing now is this team under this regime is executing said plan.....that’s not luck, that’s attention to detail.

I have a hard time with people who think that the difference in shot differential at 48% is actually meaningful. It comes down to 3.43 shot attempts in a game. Meaningless. Goals are what matters Mr. Tanner. To think anything else is ignorance. The Islanders have given up the least number of goals in the NHL by a significant margin.
