Interesting perspective as always Tanner. Could do without the non-hockey related B.S. though

Corsi. Puck luck. Possession. Save %. Pretty sure the only stat that counts is in the standings.

I love that "Old man yells at cloud" meme. I don't care if it's been around forever and overused, I still get a chuckle every time I see it.

The Islanders are actually being propped up by 2 goalies playing far better than their career average, not just one. That's the really crazy part. One poop goalie playing the season of their life is lucky enough, but they have two doing it.

Lehner and Greiss both are 1st and 2nd in the NHL for goals against and save percentage, with 2.08 gaa for Lehner and 2.20 gaa for Griess right now. Their save percentages are .930 and .929 respectively.

Lehner hasn't had close to that low a gaa or high a save % since his early Ottawa days when he only played 5 and 12 games those seasons. His career save percentage is .917, which isn't terrible, but not nearly as good as his current league leading .930.

Greiss has played almost as many games as Lehner this year and his numbers are almost the same, despite having a career average of 2.62 gaa and .915 sv%.

So they've actually got two goalies playing far better than should be expected of them for 30 + games each. I'm sure it's been a great ride for Isles fans and if they're lucky, their two goalies might not fall back to earth until after this year's playoffs, but eventually, those goalies are going to regress back to their usual play. It's just a question of when. If those goalies stay hot though, and keep their confidence, who knows how far they could go this year?

Do I think either goalie is really that great? No. Eventually they'll return to normal. The question is how long they can keep up this current level of play though.

Yeah, socially regressive conservatives are so much better.

Politics aside, his non political stuff ain’t too bad. Although his choice in music, movies, and internet users is pretty suspect. Plus, baseball sucks.

Maybe, but I'm extremely educated, graduated Cum Laude and have never been called stupid in real life. So I guess we'll see.

Wow wee! You're "educated"... Your level of self admiration is sickening. Plenty of book smart people are still complete morons. The fact that you have to actually voluntarily tell people how apparently "smart" you are is pretty telling. I bet you have a ton of 7th and 8th place participation ribbons hanging on your "wall of Tanner" don't you???

Personally, I find myself hilarious. I could have also talked about my scholarships, grants and awards, but I stopped myself. I didn't even mention the time Stephen Hawking complimented me.

People who are hung up on stats just don't have a good explanation for why teams perform as the Islanders are so they just label it as luck. If you were willing to recognize the limitations and faults of the stats you're married to, then you might understand.

These comments get better and better. If Robin and Greiss were facing 50 shots a game like last year and a bunch of 2 on1 1's and breakaway then you can give most of the credit to the goalies. How are so many fans not getting that Barry is a great coach and Barry's great system and coaching and the players buying in are making the goalies job easier?

All coincidence. I’ll stop back in March when we’re still on this lucky run. When is it not considered luck anymore? What’s the statute of limitations on luck?
