Bobby Clarke would have taken out OVs ankles if OV played back then. - VANTEL
Ovie would probably be more aggressive as well though, even Bure took care of things himself. Ovie weighs like 220-230 pounds and enjoys hitting people, I think he'd be a superstar in any era. |

So basically Ovie was on the 70's/80's training diet last summer |

damn commies
I wonder how good some of those Russian dudes would've been in the NHL. Tretiak, Kharlamov, Mikhailov, Maltsev, etc.
I was just watching a youtube video on those guys a few weeks ago. I forgot which one, but one of them was Ovie's childhood hero since he was such a dominant scorer for the Ruskies. |

Years later, assistant coach John Ferguson admitted: “I called Clarke over to the bench, looked over at Kharlamov and said: ‘I think he needs a tap on the ankle.’ I didn’t think twice about it. It was Us vs. Them. And Kharlamov was killing us. I mean, somebody had to do it, and I sure wasn’t going to ask Henderson.” Clarke always has insisted he doesn’t recall Ferguson telling him this, but added: “If I hadn’t learned to lay on a two-hander once in a while, I’d never have left Flin Flon.” |

We didn't have Bobby Orr so Clarke just leveled the playing field is all. All good. |

Canucks could realistically finish 8th (playoffs) or 14th (bottom 3) and neither would surprise me with how consistently inconsistent the bottom of the West has been. |

Agree it's just so much harder to score now but when you have 543 goals your first eight seasons, 632 games, including 50 in 39 you're simply the best.
Bossy had 473 goals in 609 games his first eight years. Same era.
Ovechkin had 371 goals in 601 games his first eight seasons. - LeftCoaster
Gretzky wouldn't be able to score like OV does in this era. Didn't have the upper body strength to lift the puck off the ice most of the time. |
