Wonder what it woul take to get Alec Martinez from the Kings. He can still play top 4 minutes, is left handed, and has one more year left at $4 mil., and the Kings are in full rebuild mold. - LAHawk
He is a clear win now move. How much do you want to trade to add another 31+ year old to the lineup? YES, if the Hawks were 1 vet top D from a run then I'd go for it. I suspect he'll cost at least #2 and a very good prospect or a couple good prospects. |

Yo Bread ! Great game. My boys are red hot.
Boqvist seems ok defensively. Quick. Takes good angles on oncoming forwards. His roving came more on the pp. - philco28
Okay, good to hear. I know there was talk about converting him to forward, and he doesn't do to well in his own end. Good that he's learning. Just your guess from 1 game, would you keep him in the OHL or try for the AHL next season? |

Well seems like the board is hoping for Strallman as a UFA at 33, which I am against, he will cost more and for more term. One year at $4 mil. Gives one more year we do not have to rush the pipeline.

Martinez has two more seasons after this one, just checked. I have to believe a playoff team will pay up for him if he is still a legit top 4 D. Probably not a fit here at the price he would command.
Edit: I now see kwolf answered above, probably better than I just did. |

The fact he didn't play on the PK was interesting.
Seems he doesn't have Hunter's full trust defensively at this time.
He'll be 19 in August so plenty of OHL eligibility left it would seem.
Hard to rush defenders into the pros, so i'd lean O for him again.

Oh I agree with your point, but to me both Alec and Strallman are "win now" moves. Rentals. I simply see no scenario that the Hawks will go into the rental market, especially for players like that who still carry pretty decent value, thus costing the Hawks more. In the least, teams with an actual real chance of gunning for the Cup would also likely outbid the Hawks.
For someone who plays hockey like those guys, who is younger and cost-controlled sign me up. |

I agree, I just asked what it would take to get him. I was thinking Forsling, as he seems to be getting squeezed out, I would not do any trades for draft picks either.
I thought he had one year left, he does have 2, so I guess I am as bad as Chiarelli playing GM |

Would be Forsling +. Guys who can play Top 4 D in a Cup run are worth more than an ordinary prospect. Maybe a #2 and Forsling, if someone was really hot for Forsling, even for an impending FA. But there would be more added. |

Any of those teams look like they'd be looking at the Hawks? Toronto? |

All seem to be buyers except Ari. Who might be buying and Buffalo who have fallen off the mat. |

Yotes with a regulation loss to Calgary so Hawks can jump into a tie with Vancounver ONE POINT from the playoffs with a Hawks win and Colorado loss ( home vs Vegas tn).

Sounds like Tanner Pearson has been a healthy scratch for the Pens lately. I wouldn't mind seeing Stan inquiring. |

probably two worst defensive teams in the league tonight...
over under of total shots: 80 i will take the over
delia takes his turn in the shooting gallery tonight
the hawks are a better offensive team: hawks 4-2
expect the sens to do what every team does at the beginning of each game: hard forecheck, force the play and create high quality chances in the 1st five minute
hawks have shown little ability overcome this strategy all year... |

Just looking at the stats for him, wtf happened to him this year? Is there something at work that we don't know about? |

Been on a decline since the Kings won the cup in 2014. Not the greatest of skaters, but is a smart player. Kings basically gave him away for Zcarl Haglin who is on a expiring contract. I wouldn’t offer much for him.

Interesting topic today JL, you know how to stir the pot.
If I were a betting man, I would not expect the hawks to make any "buyer" moves.
Hopefully there will be opportunities to move AA, Kruger and maybe Kunitz to teams looking to add depth. Picking up a prospect and picks will be likely return.

I wonder what the Kings can get for Hagelin at the TDL. Worst case is they made Toffoli's contract disappear, if they believed he wasn't going to regain form in LA anytime soon. |

Forsling in for Dahlstrom. I get JC wants to keep everyone playing, but I would limit the rotation to Forsling and Koekkoek. - DarthKane
Was at the game on Saturday and Dahlstrom looked bad. His shine has worn off. |
