Chicago is looking into stone I just read and it would require stone being signed a 1st round pick and sikura or kahun or drake as possibilities of trade discussions.
That deal would be great. - Taylorst1

No emotions whatsoever. Keith is still an asset, and one in which there is no need to sell low just to be rid of him, nor should you need a "sweetener" to get rid of him.
Keith has say to where he goes, but ultimately, Stan has all the cards when it comes to what to accept in a deal. Keith can ask for a trade, but the Hawks are under no obligation to trade him unless the return is right. Keith is still the Hawks best defenseman. He is also still a top 4 defenseman on any team in the league, and a top pairing d-man on many of them, maybe not a 1, but definitely a 2. In addition he has 4 years left, not 5, and at a salary that is more than reasonable for a top 4 D, plus, add in the fact that he is owed less than $10 mil in actual salary over those 4 years. The Hawks are not hurting for cap space, Keiths salary is not a drag on their cap, and replacing him with a top pairing d-man would cost more.
Stan can hold out as long as he wants until he gets a "fair" return. Unless Keith has specifically asked to be moved, and I don't believe he has, and Stan is doing it in deference to a veteran to grant his wish, why should Stan sell low? - TheTrob
Thanks, yes to all of this! |

The crazy part about a Crawford trade isn’t from the Blackhawks side of things at all. The crazy thought is: why would a playoff/cup contender like Calgary risk taking on an injured goalie like Crawford when there are so many goalie options available who aren’t hurt? Like, why wouldn’t Calgary take on Howard? Everyone also knows that Elliott is going to be moved out of Philly now that Talbot was brought in. The Cats are looking to move Reimer. There are tons of rumors suggesting Quick is absolutely available. Gotta figure that Ryan Miller is willing to waive if asked. Jake Allen might still be available for the right price, but I doubt it. If the Avs or Jackets feel like it they can deal Bob/Varly. There are just so many options. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, I’m just saying that I would think Calgary would target Elliott or Howard first |

Chicago may be ‘looking’, but Elliotte Friedman reported yesterday that OTT is reopening talks with Stone to sign him. At the same time, they are actively shopping Duchene.
So, unless they fail at signing Stone, he’s not coming to Chicago, no matter how much you, or Stan, want him. |

Well, one thing is, Crawford is better than anyone you listed. Plus he has significant playoff experience, as well as those 2 Stanley Cup wins.
Really, if you were the CLG GM, you’d want Elliott, Howard, Reimer, Miller, Allen over CC? Quick may be the only other reasonable option. |

Sigh. Chicago is not looking into Stone. It is just one writer's opinion as to what it would take to obtain Stone.

Isn't every writers article than opinion? Their is some credibility in the names and inside info to gather.

Let's look at the facts guys....
The Hawks have won 8 of their last 10, and even with that presently sit with just TWO more wins than the lowly Sens.
Push for playoffs or not, any move Stan makes needs to be about NEXT year and BEYOND. NOT about any push THIS year.

I could put a rumour online that Edmonton is trading McDavid for AA and Perlini and you would find that with a Google search. Would you believe that? |

That's a honest and fair point. Chicago if any moves are made 1 it's to better the team for the future and 2 still gives them a chance should they make the playoffs.
Chicago making the playoffs has history to prove that getting in anything can happen ! Look nor further than a 8th seeded team in LA.
Chicago has Crawford coming back that's a upgrade in the teams opinion mind, also toews and Kane who have won 3 cups to help lead the team.
Now do I believe they can beat San Jose, knights, , Winnipeg probably not but upsets have happened year after year.

I'll give you that. However the names he mentioned have some merit and it will be interesting to see what Stan does.

This is the same guy that said Saad and Keith for Laine and Trouba was a fair deal too. |

Johannsen has concussion issues of a serious nature. Stone and Simmonds are both UFA's looking for term and big numbers. They will likely be available for no compensation July 1, so why trade for them when your team isn't likely to make the playoffs. Whoever wrote the article was having an imagination fit. |

My bold prediction is that ensuring McD's proclamation that "this is a playoff team" months ago comes to fruition is mission number one, and anything to ensure that happens will be done, up to and including a rental if it is determined that is required.
Yeah...they are that stupid.
In retrospect after I just wrote this - this probably isn't a very bold prediction. |

If CHI are sellers, Saad, AA, Murphy and Crow all expendable to me. Thanks for the memories boyz. Time to move on. Easier said than done though trading any of them. But those are 4 big ticket contracts i'd jettison if possible.
Going to see Boqvist today. His Knights are in my hood.
Went back and watched the 'lites from London's last few games.
Two games back, Boqvist skated right in front of his own net with the puck, promptly gave it away and the London red light was flashing a tick or three later.
Overconfident brain farts aside, he's had a nice first year in North America playing with an elite OHL outfit
Will post later after seeing him live. |

Make it happen Stan! Maybe throw in Forsling to get Edmonton to retain Half of McDavid’s salary. |
