Also don't forget you have an ultra competitive professional athlete who has worked like hell to return to his team after suffering this condition before, who knows that questions the doctors are going to ask, who might be trying like hell to stay with the team again, and who may very well be telling the teamm what he knows they need to hear rather than telling them the truth.

There's only so much he can do with a limited prospect pool. No one is lining up to trade for Scandella, Larry, Girgs and Okposo. We need to make some smart FA pickups and trade for one above replacement level C or D. Falling to the Rags and Devils in the way that we did is simply embarrassing.

sad thing is we may not be out of the playoffs.. if the jack offs are forced to trade bob and panarin that opens one spot.. and there is still montreal in there who could easily go on a losing streak like we have. we do need to rattle off a few 3 to 5 game win streaks though to make it happen

They play with no passion or heart. They don't finish checks even when they have the opportunity to do so, too easy to play against. You don't have to be the most talent team out there to win but you absolutely have to work harder. We just don't do that.

I am certain that the organization knows this team is not nearly talented enough. Playoffs or not, they know what they need to do. I liked the analysis Stimson did on Botterill, and his conclusion was that he was doing a pretty decent job. A GM's work is never done, but I really hope an honest assessment is made with Housley this summer. The new NHL is all about Housley's coaching style, there should be no shortage of suitors who are willing to implement a similar style, while also playing to the strengths of the players on the team.
