Check the archives. Fitz and I have had a fight every blog for the last 3 weeks over the merit of a playoff experience versus the wheels coming off the bus. My valueless posts that are somehow mostly right. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

Were not winning a Cup next year. So, tank 2019-2020? Lotta good talent at the top of that draft.

I don't care what you said to be fair.
I don't keep score.
But, you're a legend in your own mind so, there's that anyway.

This year was a transition year. Wildcard spot was the optimist of views, we were in the hunt for a bit. I’d assume adding 3 prospects to the pipeline would keep the pool stocked enough for the next couple of years. Bid farewell to every forward not named Eichel, Reinhart, Mitts, Thompson, Skinner (see ya July 1st and take another high pick, or hopefully signs for a reasonable cap hit). Say adios to every d-man not named Dahlin, Pilut, Risto.
Free agency and trades should be enough to get this team a playoff spot next year to get their “experience” for when we are actually a serious threat 2020-2021 and beyond.
If the wheels fall off the bus again next year there is a lot of talent in next years draft as well by the looks of it.

Lafreniere, Byfield, Raymond, Holtz. Don’t worry they’ll be household names in your living room in a few years you’ll know very well who they are. Ottawa is gonna rebuild faster then us at this rate.

If the rebuild doesn't work next year, we can rebuild the year after that.

I guess I don’t see a lot of “transition”, just a lot of the same ‘ol, same ‘ol.
And I’d be stunned if Botts got rid of 8 forwards and 4 defensemen.

This is just a sad Buffalo excuse... You don't sit first overall in the NHL after Thanksgiving and not make the playoffs that year. It was a complete collapse

Worked for Pittsburgh and Chicago. We can laugh at Edmonton all we want too but if they get Hughes or Kakko this year they are an average defense and goaltender away from winning a couple playoff series next year. While St.Louis, Montreal, Minnesota, Rangers, Columbus keep spinning their tires. San Jose finally made the power moves this offseason they should have made 10 years ago and if they don’t win the cup this year or next that’s 16 years of playoff experience with nothing to show for it.

To be fair, they'd be tied for the first WC in the West.
