neither was #16
Patty gave them 5 or 6 solid ideas within a week to build a hockey foundation and pipeline, Pegula's shot them all down and told him he had no clue how to run a business.
Patty said screw this - homiedclown
Wasn't one of his ideas to not tear it down and rebuild and to keep Miller? |

If the deal is 5 years, that makes it more palatable. |

Tough call. I'm not sure I would if the deal is 7-8 years long. - kingcong39

scouting, scouting and more scouting
he did want to keep Miller because he felt with an above average goalie, you could hide some flaws
he had a lot of the same vision botts has
build the ahl, heavy scouting for free agents overseas
lots of community outreach thoughts
pegula told us money was no object so patty threw lots of good thoughts to turn this around and make it stable long term
but was told he had no clue how to run a business |

You know... who knows what his ideas really were but let's face it... Whatever it is they are doing now is definitely not working.... This team is a trainwreck with a couple of nice parts... Nothing more... |

8.75

I know you hate this comparison but I will post this again.
E. Kane signed for 7 for 7.
2 totally different players but are they? The stats are the same.
Kane does PK work and is tougher on the ice.
Skinner is a better teammate, person and fits into an offensive scheme.

I don't see giving Skin an extra 1.75 because of intrinsic value or because the Sabres are desperate. Desperate moves make bad decisions and I hope Botts doesn't cave. 8 should be the max. Buffalo needs the space to sign additional mediocre players. |

what botts is doing now, is sound
clean slate after next year aside from okposo
he did not want ror, moved him
he wants to build stable farm clubs, has done that
problem is murray screwed this team over so bad, it took botts 3 years to clean up the mess
if he stands pat with phil, I will be pissed but if he moves on from housley I honestly think we will be fine, after the next lockout |

The other reality is paying big dollars to only the best, like Eichel, and having cap flexibility with the rest, which means not locking a ton of players up to long term deals. - kingcong39
The above thinking is exactly why we will win NOTHING. I would rather spend to the cap for proven talent and have a 3 year window for a cup then to live in mediocrity another year.
let me ask you this, would you trade 1 cup winning season for 5-7 years of Cap hell?

I am just telling you where the bar is right now, I don't like it
We will have closure in a week, if the skinner camp does not sign an 8 year deal after the deadline expect botts to cave and overpay to keep him |
