Also if Gudas is not suspended for a full year after last night, the NHL is a joke |

No really, it sounds like you're the one that has "hard-on" (your words not mine) about the GM. and I'm sure I never told anyone to get over Myers...
Frankly its a little creepy how you love to comment on any comment I make about the crappy GM we have.
I don't like the guy, I think he's below average. Sorry that my opinion is different than yours. - gordong
Because it's all you comment on. |

They want a second line center and if it's there to upgrade at wing or on the defense, or both, he will. There is no talk at all about moving Risto, don't know where this is coming from. |

I just watched it. What a franking piece of poop. he actually tried to pawn it off as accidental, it was anything from accidental. he is looking right at Kuch and just tomahawked his head.

It was Marty Mcsorley but the outcome wasn’t as bad.
The NHL will say no injury. One game suspension. |

I'd like to offer some perspective on those moves. and not simply look at them in a vacuum that he believed "well, with these moves, we're Tampa now"
Defensive depth pre Botterill:
Risto, Bogo, McCabe, Kulikov, Franson, Falk, Fedun, Gorges
The bolded are not NHL defensemen, and Kulikov is.. bad.
It was imperative that Botterill started bringing in defensive depth. He traded Ennis (BO following year) and a bottom 6 LW for a middle 6 RW and a supposedly top 4 D. I'd make that trade again, today, if our defense was as bad as it was in 2016.
Beaulieu, still better than the bolded. For a pick that has a small chance of succeeding, I make that trade again.
Sheary & Hunwick, a middle 6 LW for a 4th? A 4th is usually nothing. A stipulation was even put on the trade for 40 points or 20 goals for Sheary. Expectations were clearly limited, and it seems like he might come close to hitting those. Our LW depth was abysmal. And we had to take on a depth D for a nothing pick. Still a good trade.
The ROR trade was to not only escape his long term cap number, but to also reset the room. The return was unfavorable the day it came in, and has become worse, besides being able to shed all of Berglund's cap. In order for this trade to become a wash or even good, that 1st must turn into a valuable asset, and/or Tage must become at least a 50 point player, plus that 1st turn into a top 4/top 6 player.
Kane, he had to go and the org had no interest in a long term deal. He got what we could, and hopefully that 1st helps us grab a good player either in trade or draft
Sorry, but that Skinner trade is an epic win, unless that 2nd, or one of the other picks, turns into Shea Weber. - TheSabresTaco
Good analysis, I like the added context you provided, I do.
That said,
- Botts did bring in a significant portion of the Cap issue with those players
- those players are struggling to get to 78 points...the same total the 2016-2017 disaster of a roster earned
- brought in a coach who is now on the hot seat
The point is he should not be absolved and given a pass based on "he inherited a mess". I submit that there is justified reason to be concerned.
I want to see what he can do, so I am not advocating for his removal, just that he does have alot to prove. |

I've never heard anything about moving Risto.. I just wish they would. I tend to believe his negatives outweigh the positives.
Grabbing a 2C would be such a great grab. Would change the dynamics of this team so much. All the sudden you have more than one line that can do anything. Hayes would be nice. Or similar. |

Me too.
I posted earlier about my thoughts are now questioning if they have the right core.
He is one I seriously question...he makes bonehead mistakes and repeats them. My only apprehension is their right side is already week to begin with. Trading him creates a major hole.
Now if you told me they are going to sign a Strahlman type, or OS Trouba, something of that nature then I wouldn't skip a heartbeat. |

Agreed.
If they are not at least actively listening then that is concerning to me as well.
He plays a lot of minutes, makes alot of mistakes, and doesn't seem to learn from them. |
