Yeah the Canes are NOT trading Ferland and a defenseman without getting a substantial forward in return. They're in the middle of a playoff race. They're not gonna sell Ferland for futures, and I can't see the Leafs wanting to make a deal THAT big in season.

i think he's just more of a solid, NHL, know what you get, physical enough guy that fills a glaring hole. donato is in the minors. we get a third line center for a guy not on the roster and only does one thing well. we shall see .

Likely see Nylander moved at the Draft. Maybe not but it’s harder to move bigger contracts mid season. Really thought Dubas should have traded him last season that way the acquiring team could get their own deal done.

Ya I agree 100%. I think they should have moved him in the off-season. If it was for Pesce or Parayko or whatever, it would have also given the Leafs more cap room for deals at the deadline. I really fee the Leafs made a mistake here.

I don’t think you’d have to pay that much, but it’s not the worst idea for either team.

Philly may want to take this time to see more of Phillipe Myers, though. Solid prospect, but had some injury setbacks. Supposedly healthy now.

It’ll depend on how far out they are at the deadline. If they’re within a reasonable reach of a WC bid, then Tyler is a nice addition. If not, let the kids play.

As for Simmonds, he’s been hampered by nagging ailments for a bit, but could be a halfway decent secondary contributor, and will add a little (excuse the tired cliché) grit. He’s supposedly a great team mate and can rally troops when needed.
