Jensen for a 2nd and Bowey. Yes. |

Lucic with possible cap retention and an asset of sorts to Ottawa for one of Gaborik, MacArthur or Smith (depending on which saves Melnyk the most actual dollars when factoring in insurance costs/savings)
Ottawa retains half his cap hit (as little money as possible) and sends him to a team with interest in adding him at 2.5 to 3mil and that he would accept (Boston comes to mind). Since Lucic only earns 7.5mil is salary the remaining 4 years of his contract and signing bonuses are paid out by the team that currently has him, Ottawa retains 3mil in cap hit over those 4 years (12mil) at the cost of just 3.75mil in real dollars. Melnyk should be happy.
Edmonton saves somewhere between 2 and 3mil in cap dollars for two years (more beyond 2 years) and adds a shorter term contract that they can LTIR, Ottawa gets a free 2.5 to 3mil in cap taken up without the burden of any dollars (ideally), the acquiring team gets a useful bottom-6 forward and Lucic gets to go to a team that wants him. - MaximumBone
I believe that’d mean we’d take Smith.
Too bad about that NMC.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a sellers market.
Kinda makes me wonder what Nuge would be worth. |

Good trade for both. Washington seems to understand the market on under-the-radar and effective Dmen. Niskanen, Kempny and now Jensen are all prime examples of this. |

I was referring to Lucic.
My bad, I wasn’t near specific enough. Head’s still a wee bit fuzzy. |

I think Lucic can be reasoned with. If he waives it with the pretense that the trade is a 3-way that immediately sends him to a predetermined team that he can accept a trade to then what reason would he have to refuse? Gets him out of a situation he seems to want to be out of and still gets him to a team that he could accept. |

It’s certainly possible, and I can’t imagine that he’s currently enjoying his tenure as an Oiler. |

Puljujarvi is becoming a real pain in the ass

And yet I don't really blame the guy. This management group has Richarded him around enough and ignored his results when playing with McDavid. I'd be pissed, too. This is his potential livelihood being toyed with by an organization full of incompetence that has proven to not have even a semblance of a coherent plan for his development. Why should he trust that them?
The situation is becoming untenable for everyone involved and this effectively burns the bridge for him as an Oiler. The last thing that #OilersCulture tolerates is dissenting voices. |

To clarify, I think there's more to this than meets the eye, as well. I think everyone involved has done something to (frank) up his development- including himself and his agent. I think it starts with the odd handling of his first pro season. Any way I look at that, there's no chance Edmonton benefits from having him be up for JUST enough games to burn a year of his RFA rights so there must've been a demand by Jesse's party that they do that. |

Yeah, I think that's it. It's easy for me to sit at home and criticize watching him coast back into the Dzone, but if he is trying to consciously "pace" himself that makes sense. I'm really happy with his production and in time I think he could actually be an even more complete player than Connor. Perhaps its asking too much for him to go all out all of the time.
Great points, thanks. - JLO961
I’ve obviously been one of Drais biggest supporters but I’m not blind and I can see aspects of his game could be better....especially away from the puck at times....it’s kind of funny that his idol is Pavel Datsyuk and that’s who he wants to model his game after seeing as Datsyuk was the best two way player of his time....I’m my opinion the positives outweigh the negatives |

If the Sens actually do move on from all 3 guys they will have a bit of a gap in thier cap that they will need to fill....under the right circumstances there is a chance that with the right offer we might not have to retain anything salary cap wise in a deal with them.....it would be different if they were going to be good and needed the cap space but they are the worst team with those 3 so where are they going to be without them? So they will rebuild and that won’t be an overnight fix.....if thier rebuild goes right then he will be off the books by the time they are ready for the playoffs again....I don’t know what the cost would be for us and then there is that pesky NMC to deal with but it’s certanly worth it to the Oilers to talk to the Sens

Havent you moved out yet- you were 14 like 6 years ago... Or you in grade 12 or you bring girls home and take them to the basement? |

Sens fans have it the worst- the owner is a colossal piece of poop that moves all players of value- yet they continue getting working pieces but always cut short by cheapass owner... They remind me of the Oilers of the late 1990s and early 2000s essentially a farm team for the Rangers et al... Depressing as (frank) but mind you players always gave it 110% and overachieved... |

The team gave him a diagnosis of the injury and he's going to see another doctor for a second opinion. What about that seems like an excuse to avoid demotion? I'm confused. |

Nah just given this whole situation as of late nothing would surprise me....if he is hurt and his season is over then fine I can believe it people get hurt.....if it was a stall tactic then again I wouldn’t be shocked either due to previous comments his agent made about going back to the AHL

It’s beginning to sound like he needs to be shipped out this summer at the draft. |
