Haha, I hated them, and the blue balls (no pun intended).

And learned to play rollerhockey on my Rollerblade Zetrablades.

Good times!

I had no clue what you were talking about at first and had to google. My first Mylec was a one piece white with red blade that was found in the dumpster. I think I used the Jetflo for gym floor hockey.

Nothing compared to the Mylec goalie pads. Plastic shells with lightish foam on the inside. Literally would wear out in 3 games. $45 at Modell's.

LOL...I remember a dude playing with those at Woodhaven Sports Center years ago....with a puck. Puck actually went through the pads and got lodged in the foam.

Jetflo would make a good beer league team name.

- hammarby31

I recall people saying Boosh was one of the fastest skaters on the team

I think of goalies as being cat like quick, but super speedy skaters - nope - that doesn't come to mind. I took this as an open ice speed skate question. But hey if I'm wrong and goalies are routinely winning sprints in full gear then, hey, my bad...
- FlyersGrace

I'm not talking about a goalie racing a skater with gear on. obviously that isn't going to work.

I played at Wooodhaven in the mid 90's. What an absolutely dirty league, anyone who had any skill, especially skating, would get taken out by the goons who couldn't skate.

Oh the memories, I remember fighting some 30+ year old because he tried to take out my legs...I was 14 at the time.

LOL. Woodhaven's been gone for years when their lease wasn't renewed supposedly because Penndot wanted to make the land into a ramp into Franklin Mills.

It's Sportsplex now...in Feasterville. I play there. The goons are gone and have been for a very long time.

I'd always agree to be goalie, then want out like a half hour in.

I am 5'7 but on occasion only the large pads were available and very uncomfortable, the sides that covered your feet would hit the ground and just be annoying.

Or on a cold day, that orange ball would turn into very light steel and hurt like hell if it rolled into your toe (for the foot-bandits as we called them)

Yeah, but we only had the screw on replacement style blades. We weren't rich.

The blue balls were for winter and they were awful.

I am from upper Bucks/Mont and always heard about that growing up. Then 411 Sportsplex and 309 skate came after I found other interests.

But good for today's youth, there are MUCH more options now I would have killed to have as a kid.

Did anyone ever play at the crappy Ice Palace in Allentown?? Je-sus what a dump. The locker rooms were LINEAR where you had to walk through each to reach the last one.

I'm not surprised one bit. It was a complete hole. I know I played in quite a few adult leagues in the summer when I was like 12-16 and my mom hated it because the games were always 10 or 11pm. I think I may have played in Feasterville, but I know for sure I played in Phoenixville, Plymouth Meeting and a couple in Delaware.

Dude there was like a 6 dollar difference but I feel you.

EDIT there should be a formula for when the My leg blades wear down, when is start to stop playing with it, because the ball skipped over your stick after a while.

I know 309 rink very well. I played for North Penn and I hated going there. I wish we had the Hatfield Ice at the time.

Black? Nope, not in my day.

They'd crack at the knee bend so we'd have to duct tape them.

Maybe part of the problem is they went with the interim coach rather than make it a tryout for the new regime.

Hitchcock is off the table but Ted Nolan is still out there...

To tell these weasels to shape up or sit, then get shipped out.

Like a litmus test

- DrMidnite

I forgot that you actually post on here Ted.. =P
