Strome is good - EnzoD
Knows where to be and collected the garbage. Missed earlier but made up for it there. |

He still came into this game with a .935 against the Hawks - his best against any team.
He also killed Kane's 26 game point streak and the 2013 no regulation losses streak.
Another stat me no likey
from Powers:
Jokiharju played just 3:02 in the first period. He had the least amount of ice time among the Blackhawks' defensemen. Keith led them at 9:08 and Gustafsson played 8:06.
I mean, WTAF, Colliton? He shoots, he has a hard shot, he can keep up with the Avs top line. . . - pdx2ord
Knew his save% was high vs the hawks...between 2012 - 2015 the hawks could not score on him and his save % was up around .970 but in recent years they have gotten to him...

Devils advocate here...
Surprised no one has entertained this thought. If Det can get a 2nd and a young D in Bowey why couldn't the Hawks get more for Gus who's been a beast offensively? Sure Jensen plays an actual 2-way game but with what Gus can bring offensively I wouldn't be shocked if they could get a 1st for him from some team. IF they decided to move him
Game related: god does it feel good to have an actual skilled PP. What a difference Gus (yes I know I just brought up trading him) and Strome have made |

Gus could be fine if they "hid" him better in matchups |

Seems like Hayden is settling into his bottom six physical role on the nicely as of late. I was on board to trade him before the teams latest surge but with the team playing well I think it would be worth it to keep him.
People have asked why he gets brought up so much as a trade candidate and not understanding being the only physical guy out there but this time of year for the Playoff push those are the type of guys teams crave and trade for. If ya get a team who loves him or gets desparate to make a move ya can possibly get an overpayment and get a really good pick for him. That's why he's been brought up. Now that the team is in the thick of things I feel they'll hang onto him. Especially since he's been solid and more consistent as of late playing his role rather than trying to do too much |

To the refs out there, on that last shot, why was the play blown dead when Varlamov held his glove open, face up with the puck in full view? Couldn't a Blackhawk have knocked it out of his glove? |

I'll take his tortoise smart game over Schmaltz the hare and his Ken Yaremchuk style game.
Have always liked AA and don't regard him as the overpaid 3C some do. |

3rd Pair PP specialist. If they could find a legit Top 4 D to go with Keith, Murphy, and Joki he could be paired with Brooksie on the 3rd pair. At least that way those two could balance each other out. Speed to cover for Brooksie and a more Defensive minded D to help Gus. Wouldn't be the best but it could work

There’s that 31st ranked PK! One zone setup and picked apart like a House League team. |

Agree on both accounts. Strome is a hockey player. Schmaltz was a skill guy.
I like AA wouldn't mind him as our 3C. However if we could get someone similar with more speed I'd be intrigued

That was bs to have the face off in the d zone. The tip into the Avs bench was outside the blue line.
Also, JC was stupid to only have one center. The 2nd forward should have been either Krugs or Toews. |

Cags with a BIG FO win after Toews got kicked out. Damn those three together have some very good chemistry together.
Bowman with two BIG wins in deals so far this year getting Cags and Strome |

Refs have to be smart now. Colorado cannot score 5 on 5, so they are going to take dives to draw penalties. Start calling them! |

Win or lose there's lots to like about their game tonight. Even that washed up bum Toews seems useful. |
