Still waiting for a name, this whole answer is a cop out, its okay to say, i don't know. - BetweenTheDots
Why is it a cop-out? I don’t know everyone who would be available at that time but I would when necessary. If I could pry Gallant out of Vegas I’d hire him in a hearbeat. |

Z stands for Zinger! Another good one. Are those who work for McDonald's, BK or Wendy's beneath you? Or stupid? Or merely less rich. Can you spell out for the class why it is a bad thing to work at these joints? |

What would you like Kane to say? It is easy to analyze his comments. In hindsight he mentions there was skeptisism. Note that this skepticism was not mentioned at all when the change first happened by any player. However, it is very easy to surmise that this skepticism still exists. How could it not? Colliton is clearly in over his head and the players knew it and know it. What are they supposed to do? Of course they try to make the best of it. It seems nice that Colliton inquires about Kane’s day. Like to see Keith’s reaction when this happens. - Z3Hawk
Compare now to the play of the veterans in the 30 days following Q's firing. It was abysmal, they were grieving (and rightly so). What has happened since then? Based on what they did last year, I expected them to keep phoning it in. They didn't. IIRC, you were not a Q fan either and you saw part of his job as motivating his players.
On the flip side, Kane has no reason to be as complimentary as he was. He could say what he did in those first 30 days - "we're still adjusting." He made a point of contrasting how he felt then with how he feels now. The play of Toews, Kane, and eventually Keith would tell me that they have stopped grieving and are buying into the results they are seeing.
Think about how they must feel about the PP and how embarrassed and frustrated they must have been for years - to be so good, yet to fail so spectacularly, so often. Now they are leading the league.
I get it, you don't like Colliton either, but I think they are doing more than just "trying to make the best of it." We'll agree to disagree. I see more heart and fire in this team than I have in three years. |

I was wondering that this year rumors regarding the Blackhawks trades seems to been very tight lippped.
Could a possible reason be that when Q was fired that shifted the front office around and some of the sources that was getting access to potential moves are not getting them now? |

I second that. Look at what the going rate is for mediocre defencemen at this TDL. If Gus continues to put up points and does not extend with us, his production and low salary will command a King's ransom at the next TDL.
My apologies to those who think that Gus is mediocre too. |

I'm not an advanced stats person but I know some have said Jokiharju has pretty good advanced stats compared to other D men. While I don't mind limiting his minutes or even sending him down to Rockford if it is for a gradual developmental regimen, I do sometimes wonder if it's more of a case of the stance of a rookie not yet earning his stripes despite actually performing better in many (not necessarily all) aspects of the game than his fellow blueliners. Fine if that perspective is totally false but just throwing out another theory as food for thought. - AEL_Fox
It really does sound like that when you hear JC talk about him (which is why I joked yesterday that maybe HE is the coach who hates youngsters).
He mentions that Joki is young, that he'll get his opportunity, that he needs to learn to play against men, etc. etc.
I also wonder if he's trying to poke some holes in Joki's ego which was pretty big when he first came up. Fine balance there and have to be concerned about killing the confidence and high morale he needs along with it. |

What's the word on Kruger? I have not seen or heard anything after he was pulled last night. Sucks if he got hurt and we had a deal to move him on Monday. |

I think the hard thing for me with Gus is if you look at the breakaway goal last night, very mediocre effort on Gus's part. Not skating hard, haphazard swing of the stick. As a defenseman, yes I feel he is a liability. As strictly a power-play quarterback, he has something Chicago has missed since the departure of soupy |

Let's see .... the youngest coach in the league hates young guys! I remember when half this board posted Q hated young guys while he had 4 guys under 22 on the roster.

Wow on the Garrioch comments.
I mean he is IN THE KNOW with Ottawa. Who knows why he said that ? Helping drive up the price or legit reporting. Very very interesting. |
