The other reason is that Calgary could also be interested in a package of Hayes coming along with Zucc, (who they had first interest in for about a month or so), depending on who they also may want the Rangers to accept in part as return off their own roster. That could increase the two's values received from any team if traded together or separately.
The Rangers could also be delaying on trading either for reasons of hoping Ottawa officially does something with Stone by tomorrow at the latest. If so, that could even further up the trade value of Hayes and Zucc from some desperate teams, with Gorton having said a few days ago that they would wait as long as possible until satisfied with a return versus it better to re-sign them. However, with word yesterday that Rangers contract negotiations were not close with either, that could have for now temporarily lowered offers from certain teams.

Gortan even stated in the sporting news it’s started with the Stepan trade.

Rebuilds start with a certain draft and draft picks, nothing else matters. They started to trade off assets with Stepan, and haven’t stopped...

2017 it starts- Andersson and Chytil (one via acquisition-that alone signals the intent, TO AT LEAST, start the rebuild)

2018- Kravtsov, Miller and Lundkvist (2 vis acquisitions)

2019- they have there own and probably at least one more

This is the 3rd draft coming up during said rebuild, 2 full NHL seasons...it’s either 2 or 3 years, depending how you judge the NHL year to end and begin. I believe it starts at the draft of a said year. 3 drafts, 3 years of rebuilding.

In fact, if people will recall, that team was not supposed to go far at all in 2017-18. Smoke n mirrors produced a decent first half and we all knew the shots against would catch up to them. They were no way near contenders that year at any point because we all knew they would continue to sell off guys (ie-Nash, Mac, etc)

Signing a Shatty has no bearing if it’s a rebuild or not, it’s one damn player and Stepan needed to be traded for sure, but they got 0 NHL ready talent in that trade in order to compete last year. Zero. Deangelo wasn’t good enough yet to even be in the NHL basically, he played 32 games and not well

Hey tj, maybe I should have technically worded it as being Full Season 1 of their rebuild. I respect and can see your way of looking at it. However, they did view themselves as a Cup contender going into last season. Furthermore, besides their player moves after the disappointing 2nd Round loss to Ottawa in 2017, they brought in Ruff that July, to not only be an assistant coach, but also a shadow and worry lurking over A.V. in case things became even worse, whereby he would replace A.V.

Then after last mid season, they announced the rebuild and began selling earnestly, after realizing at some time earlier they had misjudged themselves to be a Cup contender. Remember also that Ruff was given consideration to be their new head coach starting 2013, before choosing A.V. over him, whereby Ruff was hired by Dallas as their head coach.

It's not to make you go crazy, but rather that I have always viewed it in that means, or else no college coach would have replaced A.V. Have a great weekend, provided also that any trades they complete won't make you go crazy.

At this point I think the mid 20s pick has a better chance of success. I’ve said this before: guys like Dylan Strome are the exception and not the rule. Puj looks lost out there. Just because he was taken in the top 5 means zilch right now.

Haven't watched the show. If you ever come down to the States, definitely try the pork roll, egg and cheese it really is a guilty pleasure. I eat it a few times a year. Never had it on a burger, try it in in it's purest form
