I wouldn't be surprised he gets moved in the off season, but this year no way.

What about that Dzingel? he's a UFA not as buzz worthy as Stone. Could also go after Skinner in the off season.

Either way, they gotta get Pearson and JJ off the books somehow. Id take Hags skating fast and not scoring and pending UFA over Pearson not scoring and sucking for 2 more years.

I can't say I know anything about Dzingel's game. Can you enlighten me? How about Ferland? Are they in the same category?

I have no clue TBH, i dont know who most players are in the league at this point. I just dont have time with work/life.

Stone G totals last 3 seasons including this one: 28, 20, 22
Dzingel: 22, 23, 14

Both are about the same age.

FWIW Skinner 36, 24, 37

I'm more concerned about the style of play of each one of them. I'd like to get a defensively responsible player who could net 45-55 points per year. Dzingel might be this kind of guy?

Yeah I agree, but again no clue.

I love how Sprong's weakness was his D game, Malkin and Kessel are terrible defensively. they make up for it, but when your skill set is to score who f'n cares.

Meh, I never like this argument. There were still many poor moves when Botterill was here too. Max Lapierre, Winnik, Perron, etc. And more to the point, we dont know who is spearheading the trade or targeting the player to be acquired.

As an example...maybe GMJR really wanted Schultz and Botterill said no, lets go with Hainsey, but GMJR went with his gut anyway. Why would Botterill get credited with that shrewed move to pick up Schultz?

Maybe it's Guerin that is messing up player evaluations and feeding them to GMJR

We just dont know who does what...

We don't know exactly who does what. But we do know that the college pipeline ended after Botterill left. We also know that GMJR's moves that worked typically occurred when Botterill was here, and he's on a decent losing skid of his own since Botterill left. Until he pulls another rabbit out of his hat, I'm believing the loss of Botterill hurt more than anyone wants to let on.
At least this GM tries, unlike another GM in this town...

Dzingel would be a nice addition but probably too expensive to acquire due to low cap hit.

Ferland probably isn't available (especially to pens) with canes in playoff position.

However, GMJR just had a long conversation about Sid and Geno getting bullied around so I'm fully expecting Adam McQuaid or Wayne Simmonds to be his choice.

Sprong has been a healthy scratch for the ducks. He’s not very good. End o story

Dzingel also has absurd shooting %s. Granted his shooting % has been high the past two seasons and the two before that he wasn't no slouch either so he might just be a sniper, but I'm always concerned when a non-star is shooting at a 17% tick. Kuch's career average is 15% and he might be the most accurate goal scorer in the league right now.

Penguin scouts being a lot more active. Scouted the Ottawa game and Red wings versus Wild game. Maybe JR has an off the radar acquisition from Ottawa like Boedker with salary retained for Pearson. Or maybe many of you who hoped we would target Eric Staal have your wish come true due to JR's past history with him.

He’s being scratched by a guy with zero coaching experience at any level. Let’s not act like this dude knows what he’s doing. Dudes got more points this season than Wiley vets like Pearson and Cullen.
