Trouba has made clear he wants out.
I would offer them McCabe, Beaulieu, St. Louis 1st.
They have some of the best defensive depth in the league as it is. If they are in on Stone, they can flip the 1st we send them to Ottawa and still make out ahead in the deal.
Why they would trade him now is because they don't want to lose him for nothing. We trade for him and offer him a max deal. Of course, it would have to be a handshake agreement to give up that much for him but let's not act like he's untouchable. - BeadyEyedDouche
They're not losing him for nothing as he's still an RFA after this season.
Also, I'm fairly certain the offer of McCabe, Bealieu, and the St. Louis 1st gets an instant dial tone response.
They're going for it this year as one of the favorites. If they do move Trouba, it'll be this offseason, not during the season, and I have a feeling it would take much more than what you offered above. |

I dunno...it's literally a miracle that Bogo has played in 54 out of our 61 games... |

Watching trades go down its so sad to see the return we got for ROR when he is a better player than Duchene.
So sad. |

Wait for excuses to follow....
and our gm sits and does nothing... while this Jekyll and Hyde teams does just enough to not make the playoff nor get a player in the draft that moves the needle.
But hey there’s always next year, you just wait till next year!

Come on
You know this is the time of year where teams over pay. This and July 1st is when GMs forget to take their crazy pills.
And I’m not sure one’s “better” than the other. |

I don't think this team is Jekyll and Hyde at all - they aren't very good and even when they were winning all of the signs said they weren't very good. There are moves and non-moves from earlier in the year that can be criticized but I have no problem with us doing nothing now.

I don't see how he doesn't get nominated for it at the very least. I've been thinking about his time here and I am glad to see that he's sobered up and doing well now. That being said, I think the trade becomes even more dubious for Murray knowing what we know now. In that article in The Athletic where Lehner comes clean, he said something to the effect of "I haven't played a professional season sober." Murray was around this guy for years in Ottawa - I find it next to impossible that he don't know about Lehner's off ice struggles. Water under the bridge now I guess. |

It will be the same thing when we win the draft with our 3 selections, every expert gives us an A+ draft grade. The World Juniors will basically be an extension of Sabres development camp with all of the prospects we’ll have there. The same people crying to trade the picks we’ll be the people praising Botts for his patience and roster building two years from now when we are Winnipeg East. |

How exactly do they risk “losing him for nothing” when he’s an RFA?

Do Pens become buyers now that 2 of their Dmen have been injured?
Lots of time left to heal before playoffs, but can they survive the race in the meantime.

You are the one happy with the ROR trade. Perhaps calling other people unreasonable your judgement might be a tad off |

shhhh. they don't want to hear how the GM got taken on the ROR trade. they got a bunch of trash and a big guy that played like a 5'5" guy. the only hope they have is the draft choice turns into something, everything else was crap. |

Show me one post where I said I'm happy with the trade.
Whether I like the trade or not makes no difference. Complaining about it daily is unreasonable since it is out of our control.
My judgement is probably a tad off in thinking that the grumpy old men club on here will ever do anything other than spout negativity.

Like I said earlier. We are going to win draft day, the Sabres will have the best prospect pool in the league once again. The same people crying about missing the playoffs this year won’t even blink an eye at it in two years when we are perennial contenders. The WJC will be an extension of Sabres development camp with the amount of guys we’ll have there. Thompson will be a 15-20 goal scorer on our third line when he has consistent linemates and fully developed.
The only thing that Botts is making me nervous about is if he can get rid of the deadweight on this roster, and sign free agents to reasonable cap and term to allow our prospects to develop properly. Botts has the assets to make us a juggernaut when the Tampa’s and Toronto’s are getting bent over due to the salary cap and lack of prospect depth starting in 2020-2021 |

There’s a middle ground between “doing nothing” and “mortgaging the future” and that middle ground could benefit the team if the right opportunities could be found. |
