You're right.

It has no relevance when considering future trades.

Peca was traded for Tin Man and Taylor Quiet. Terrible trade. Atrocious, even.

Gratton was traded for Briere. Genius trade.

- Powerslave

Brier trade wasn't genius, it was stupid. Briere was on waivers before we traded for him. We could've got him for free.

Then we still would've been stuck with Gratton.......

Unless there's a third team involved, I just don't see it.

That's a unicorn sighting .(3rd team involved) Very rarely happens .

Agreed.

Actually, I wouldn't even want them to add to this. I'd want different players.

Fair

I doubt they’d even consider this, but...

Mitts & Risto
for
Point & _____
*and maybe even take Callahan from them

Mitts can likely grow into a really good 2C for them
And it could give them room to go after Karlsson as a UFA

Can’t see this deal done now though
Would have to be after the season

TB has $1.7m in cap space and Risto's remaining cap hit is just over $1.2m.
- adambuffalo

Not this year
Moving forward when they already don’t have room to sign Point for next year

They need to move salary out
Not take it in

that would be too big of a move based on the Sabres history .
Mitts could turn into our very own Point player.

I get the frustration.

If he ends up trading Risto for that crap, I'll be on board with Gordong.

I don’t hate Botts
He seems like a smart guy

But he has made a number of moves & decisions that I’m not a fan of

I’m very interested to see what he does this offseason

Would Buffalo really move Risto though? I wouldn’t think so in my opinion.

No. Stevie Y is a shark. Botts better stay away. Stevie Y sees how Risto plays against Washington and Tampa needs to get past Washington in the playoffs. If Point doesn’t come back, this is a horrible idea. ROR was supposed to be expendable now his void is the biggest thing the team needs to refill.

Every GM makes the questionable trades. If they all were great .. it would be a cup every year .

“Could” is the operative word

I still have high hopes for Mitts
But I’d trade him in a heartbeat for Point
He’s becoming a superstar

Stevie Y isn't calling the shots from a GM POV anymore.

It’s seems like a tough move to make
Trading Risto leaves us with only Bogo & Nelson on the right side
Even if we move Dahlin over,
we’d still wanna replace Bogo in the top4 moving forward
And it seems like Dahlin prefers the left side
Or at least we prefer him on the left

If we move out Risto...
gotta get a legit RH top4 guy in another trade or signing somehow

Mitts is in his first year. Even Jack took a year ,,Sam ? . See what i'm getting at ? Those types are hard to get . To get a better one from another team will cost plenty.
Just my 5 cents .

He’s still there. I’m sure is consulted in decision making.

I think if the Sabres trade Risto there is going to be a void on the D. He plays physical, moves the puck, has offensive talent and, yes, has a few errors in the d zone but is one of the leaders in minutes in the league. He has value.

I wouldn't think so either, especially to a team in the division. Maybe if it was for someone like Trouba who has wanted out of Winnipeg and may cost more than the Jets can afford.

This is where the 3rd team comes in and the only way you consider moving Risto.
