McQuaid is going for it? They have no choice, though. They have no picks for the next two seasons. FA who aren't going to sign. Or they are going to overpay the ones they traded to acquire. - Elbows15
Im talking about the total moves, big picture not just this move by itself |

Dzingel played at Ohio State so he's probably the only one that Re-signs. Panarin is still gone. Duchene probably gets overpaid by whatever team loses out on Panarin on 7/1. I think they have as good a shot as anyone to beat Tampa with their new additions. They still might trade for Mark Stone I read.... - EnzoD
They don't have the juice for Stone. Their prospect pool is meh. And they have no pick currency. |

Roar, why do we keep hearing they have money to spend in FA if they are so strapped? Not questioning but looking at the salary outlook from your understanding. - nickmo2699
Because those who claim they have space aren't doing the basic math. I mean are the data wrong??

Will Ottawa want to wait until 2025 to cash in the Jackets' picks for Stone though? |

They CAN'T sign ANYONE impactful for two years unless they give up to get, just leaving a different hole somewhere else.
Too much money and inflexibility given to too many players' contracts, and the lack of impactful player development over the last eight years combine to do this team in until some of the bad deals simply expire.
The only hope for change is patience and that more of the prospects in the pipeline can accelerate their progress. The math says a few might make it - in another year or two.
This is why I just don't see the value in playing themselves out of high draft pick position. They are who they are. Accept it, and move on in the right way. - Return of the Roar
I tend to agree with this comment.
I do however think that Keith or Seabrook will be dealt this summer along with AA after his 2M bonus is paid on July 1st.
I think Stan signs both Dcat and Strome this summer. I think they get Dcat signed for 3 years at 6M and Strome 4.5M for 3 years. |

Obviously today is TDD, but when does trading open up again? How long after SC Finals? |

Not saying he will ever be a stud goalie, but why is everyone writing off Forsberg? He is having a good season in Rockford, .921 save %, wasn't exactly put into the best of situations last year. - LAHawk
Delia has cooled off. Might make sense to give him a shot. |

You're accounting for Strome and Cat re-upping correct? |

That would be dumb. Sorry but one year of production and 3 years of little to no production doesn't justify that type of spend. I'd offer Strome 3 years and 3.5 million and tell him he can get his pay day when he shows consistency. |

Faulk has been very good is young and cost controlled. Dougie is a tremendous talent and would be great. Either player is a massive upgrade over anything on the roster or in the pipe.
Murphy flips to the left where he carried Seabrook and they are fine.
You're incorrect about either player. - fattybeef
Tell me about Faulk as my opinion is really more guessing based hockeybuzz comments in the past. I have not wtatched him much in games on the NHL channell. Thought he was purely offensive player had one big scoring year I recall. We have offensive dmen prospects in spades it seems
.
Hamilton I said ok. Actually he has been a good NHL
player.....when I said that he is ok, I am just thinking of his changing sweaters frequently. No team seems to want to retain him.[img][/img] |

Maybe if it was 2008
Cat is about to hit 40 goals, and Strome if continued production will be a bit higher than that. |

Both 2 and 7 have said they don't want to leave and have 100% control over that. I fear they are lifers.
SB could sign 12/17 in the summer - they won't be cheaper waiting, but I still feel the best path is waiting until the summer before their deals are up to resign them. Don't think a smart agent doesn't know they likely leave money on the table negotiating too soon.
Both of these scenarios are just wishful thinking to me, and illustrative of the real jam they are in. |

That would be a great deal for the Hawks.
His agent will say no deal. We will take our chances and play out his final ELC year and then cash in at 6M during the summer of 2020.
This kid has crazy chemistry with Dcat. They were fun to watch in Junior. |

McQuaid is a really nice depth add for CBJ. Good for them. Will be a very interesting spring for them. |

If Strome is a 60-70pt player next year and Debrincat is 35 ish goals again probably closer to 15 combined. - fattybeef
Stan probably tries to sign Cat and Strome this summer before knowing if Strome will be a 60-70 point scorer next season. With Cat having a better 2nd season than his very good rookie season - he's more of a certainty, whereas Strome is still a bit of a question mark and can probably be signed for less than if he doesn't sign this summer and then proves it in 2019/20.

The Blackhawks do not need Faulk. He's an offensive minded defensemen and we already have that on the current roster with Gustaffson and in the pipeline with both Beaudin and Boqvist. Hamilton would be great but you're giving up too much to get him IMO(Saad +).
If the Hawks trade with Carolina, I'm tellin you, it should be Brett Pesce or Slavin. The guy is like a Hjmarsson. I'd offer AA and Beaudin for either.
I'd also take De Haan as well, but I'd only offer AA + Forsling. |

I don't think there any trade restrictions but there are playoff eligibility restrictions. |
