Not impressed with the haul for stone. Maybe he waited to long - Abadseed
Brannstrom is a tremendous prospect. No way he is in the deal if Stone was only a rental.
Ottawa have 2 very nice kids on D now - Chabot and Brannstrom. |

I'm sure McPhee was ready to drop the gloves if Dorian didn't accept the offer. |

It doesn't sound like Vegas gave up much nice job on their end.
I'm shocked Stan couldn't pull off a trade like this for stone.
Stone is a young impact player and Stan would have looked like a genius - Taylorst1
We have a 7% chance of making the playoffs, why give up anything for a rental that there is no guarantee to sign much less afford after the season? |

Stone deal was priced as if he were only a rental.
OTT asked too much for too long and this might have been the best deal left on the table. |

No way. Brannstrom not in the deal unless Stone didn't agree to sign with Vegas. |

Joki level at 19 years old hes near a PPG in the AHL for the Wolves. 1st Round 15th overall pick in 2017 draft. Lindberg is a solid 3rd liner, and Ottawa's 2nd rounder is essentially a late 1st given they will suck again next year..... |

One of the posters said it best earlier. With strome and cat due for a raise , Stan won't be a big player in free agency unless a miracle happens with seabrook getting moved out. - Taylorst1
As long as they subtract Anisimov without taking any salary back this offseason, they absolutely can fit one large free agent contract into the salary structure, about $9.5 million per year. Are things tight all over again after next season then? You bet. But they could do it if they want to.
They will have Joki and Baudin or Boquist manning a defense slot at $925k for the next 2 years. With Hossa going on LTIR each season, it's doable. Key is what you spend to resign Caguilla, Strome, Dcat, and Kahun. Get them all done for $17 million, do Dcat and Strome this summer for cost certainty, and they could absolutely move forward.
Will they? For a lot of reasons, it's doubtful. Mainly because they need to get better at D and most impact guys seem to be forwards. Unless they just want to be content making Kane happy and bringing Panarin back. |

I think your right. I have this feeling a lot of these so called rentals, dzingel, duchenem, stone will not see free agency and will sign with their new teams.

Not sure they go into next season with 2.5 rookies on the D roster. And Hossa is a Coyote, so there’s that. |

Why would they do that? If they are going to sing with their current teams they still can on or after 7/1. Doesnt make sense not to test the market at this point |

Wow...I stand corrected....Stone on TSN saying he will reup with Vegas....8y/$9M
Pierre LeBrun
(@PierreVLeBrun)
Mark Stone says on TSN he's agreed to terms on an extension with Vegas. As per @TSNBobMcKenzie, will be 8 years and AAV around $9 million plus
If that is what power forwards are going to get in this market it becomes even clearer that the Hawks are YEARS away from adding anyone of that caliber via free agency. |

19 year old defenseman that is producing nearly a PPG in the American Hockey League.....he's a high end prospect. |

From Elite Propects he seems comparable to Boqvist. Both Swedes. both puck moving d-men. Even close in size.
I don't know if that is actually true. I would guess Brannstrom is farther along in his development. |
