He should have moved Gustafsson, tho. His value will never be higher. Can always move in the off-season though. - Elbows15
So true. Especially when Montour was traded for 1st plus... |

Thankful the future wasn't pissed away at this deadline. No reason to make a deal just to make a deal. I do think this team is ahead of schedule in regards to their rebuild/retool. The West is weak, but I still believe this team is a few moves away from being in a much more competitive spot. No chance this blue line will return next year- have to believe moves will be made at the conclusion of the season. I am excited to see what happens down the road. |

I dont blame Seabs for not wanting to be moved, but he needs to realize how much he is hamstringing the organization. - nickmo2699
As far as I know Seabrook did not put a gun to Bowman's head to offer him the contract. As far as the team is hamstrung, blame Bowman, not Seabs for not agreeing to be moved.

I think they should move Gustafson only if they decide to have the team actually play defence or some semblance of a defence system
If the plan is to keep playing offence only and JC thinks they'll simply outscore teams, might as well keep Gus - PatShart
Do you believe the team has decided to form a team that will not play some semblance of defense?
And do you believe it is JC who makes this level of decision? |

The injuries he has had may have curtailed his development. Could have a big effect on whether he ever comes close to his potential. I still think Granlund is the better player and always will be better. - Elbows15
I tend to leave most of the individual player evals to you and the rest of the board. I just ask if the math lines up, of Fiala plus the expected value of the cap excess being equal to Grandlund. A lot of the time, a seller gets draft picks back, so I guess another way of looking at this is whether or not Fiala is better than the draft pick return value for Granlund. What would Granlund get in picks, given that he still has another year left after this one? |

I believe they thought that this year the only way to try and be competitive was to run and gun and try to outscore, if you put in the neutral zone trap and left wing lock combined, the Hawks defense would still be bull poop. |

I think today was pretty smart, as people have said. There was no need, present or future, for big trades. One thing to pay attention to, teams with top talent will be coming up against the cap. There will need to be trades made and players becoming FA's because of this. Bowman was on the cap crunch side the past few seasons, now lets see if he's learned how to operate from the other side. The next year or two could be big. Smart moves adding top end, depth, and letting our prospects develop. |

Q1- Yes
Q2- Yes. Hes the HC. His job is to implement the system- unless now the front office is in the locker room making group decisions on how to run the team now that Q is gone..which very well may be the case too |

Certainly on Bowman for giving him the NMC. However, what we tend to overlook LA is when Seabs signed the extension. All feelings aside, if we let Seabs walk when he signed his deal, would we as fans be okay with that? After the 15' cup I honestly dont know how I would of reacted to him moving on. |

Other than Seabrook & Keith, who was the GM that acquired all the rest of the defensemen?
Who is the individual who decides which roster players skate each night, and who determines the system they play?
So, Bowman and Colliton are responsible for the team that is last in the NHL in goals against. It’s currently 3.73. OTT is next, 3.68, then NJD 3.39. |

Could have been true when Barry Smith was on the bench. But, now that he is gone, I do not think that is even a possibility. |

Well, there you have it.
Blackhawks make zero moves.
I'm a little surprised there wasn't a minor move. However, when you look at the action around the league (or lack there of) it makes sense. Too many teams still in the hunt.
I will have a blog later tonight or tomorrow on the day that wasn't for the Hawks. |

Justin, I know what you are saying, but they did activate Crow. Maybe 2 games late (or maybe it makes no difference), but this move is a showcase for the summer. |

Guys, I just looked at Eklunds "Rumor Chart" and every player on there that was moved before the deadline didnt have the team they ended up at on the probable destinations
Other than creating this website, he is the absolute worst |

Worst case here is ending in that 11-15 range which will seemingly eliminate us from a top 5 pick.
If the 2 game loss streak starts the free fall since the dream is nearly over, they might end up better than top 8. - Popsghostly
They’re at 8th right now and have played a game or two more than most of the teams around them. |

Hawks will beat both LA and Anaheim, who are very bad. Then probably get smoked like 8-4 in San Jose. |

It surprises me, especially if there are so many teams still in it. That means more potential buyers, thus more chances that someone would pay the asking price for a given player. |

Shocked if Crawford is moved. Not sure who would take on a $6M risk because let's be honest, that's what he is moving forward. |

Stan Bowman said he did not ask any players to waive their no-movement clauses at any point.

Maybe I misunderstood what you said below:
"I dont blame Seabs for not wanting to be moved, but he needs to realize how much he is hamstringing the organization."
It felt like to me that you believe Seabs should agree to waive because he is hamstringing the organization? To your point, some did say it was too long and too much money, I thought it was fair for both sides at the time. |
