But a top-4 defenseman signed to a very nice deal with 1 year remaining was able to bring a 1st rounder, so why didn't our 30+ year old 3rd line winger who's an upcoming UFA bring better?

I'm fine with the return. It could have been higher... could have been lower. This gets us 2 assets for nothing and lets you tell the players we can still try for the playoffs.

I dont have a problem with it. I think in the summer they will be active. I hope they re involved in the Panarin sweepstakes. I haven t been disappointed with Fletcher, just wait and see how the summer unfolds to formulate an opinion.

Hartman has 7 less points, is 6 yrs younger and simmonds is a UFA and if reports are true blocked a trade to Calgary. not sure what people expect

Hartman is farther along at age 24 than any prospect they could have gotten, and the 4th is really a 3rd. I think this is an expected return.

Poile is a wizard but mostly for the granlund trade. He was able to get Boyle, granlund, and simmer without giving up tolvanen or a first. Pretty incredible GM work
