Hartman seems meh to me. If they kept Simmonds and didn't sign him in the off-season they could use his cap space to fill the slot.

I just didn't view moving him today as critical to the success of the team and I don't think the move today improved them. I wouldn't have been upset at all had they not moved him.

And this is based on your extensive watching of Hartman?

He's a good player. He's not a superstar. He's a good skater who will give you 15 goals and can play on the PK, will get in on the forecheck and give you solid bottom-6 minutes.

He's also an RFA, so if they don't qualify him, they'll have the cap space. I don't see the downside at all.

Woulda kept Simmer for that garbage return. What was the point? To make Poille look like a rock star? If that’s what he offers then you hang up the phone and let Simmer ride the season out with the Flyers.

I still don't understand the argument that the Flyers could use Simmonds cap space, do you think Hartman (RFA) is going to re-sign for 4m? He makes 875K. The Flyers replaced Simmonds with a younger, cheaper and I feel more skilled version of Simmonds.

It’s not horrible. Just useless. Hartman shouldn’t be resigned after his deal and 3rd round pick at best less than 10% chance of hitting. For that crap just keep the guy. Philly his home. Let him go out at end of season.

I stayed consistent the whole time!

1) Never believed Simmonds was worth a 1st and/or a good prospect
2) Didn't care about return as long as they got something

My expectations were realistic, everyone who are upset had unreasonable expectations. That is THEIR fault, not Simmonds or Fletcher's fault.
