Simmonds has been what I wanted in a Flyers Uniform.
Assuming nothing offered is palatable to management, what's next?
What is a decent and fair deal for Wayne elsewhere? Here?
Frankly I suspect that no matter the return it will always be inadequate to me. But I'm old and grumpy anyway. Yet this, this, is like losing a favorite toy and I'm five.
It's obvious that Mr Simmonds is key to the psychology of this team. It's been spoken of how the 'core' is not only aging but has problems in several aspects of winning consistently. Poor, no, BAD starts to games, overly streaky scoring, a five million dollar stanchion on D, being turnover prone (I see you, Voracek), a weak PP, a feeble PK.
Mr. Simmonds, barring injury, has not been a weakness. I am aware that he is not a supreme offensive player and he is not the fastest guy on the ice but no opponent really wanted to be TOO close for TOO long. His teammates know he is not only dependable as a player but as a friend. He always had their back.
That is irreplaceable.
If I were player, I would desire this guy to be in our colors.
He is, and perhaps was, an embodiment of what I would have wanted to be as a player and certainly as a fan of this team.
Yeah, I like this guy.
With his work ethic and personality traits, he will do well anywhere. I'd prefer here. |

I've been within a few feet of it and could have easily touched it. I feel the same way as you do though.
Thanks. - hockeylover

Not sure if this was discussed last night but why would Anaheim move a young D like Montour with a year left on his contract? If future cap reasons they still had a whole year to try and figure something out, that was a head scratcher for me. |

the hockey central panel said the rumor is Simmonds is looking for a 5 yr deal. i love Simmonds but in my opinion the Flyers are making the right call if that is true

To me it would depend on cap hit. 5 mil? 6 mil? Anything above that I would have an issue with. But if it’s 5 years and 6 mil each year I think I would be game. We have young players to sign and I would think the only stumbling block on long term money is provy. Everybody else really isn’t that hard to figure out value plus we are losing mcdud in the next year or so and Gudas and Raffl. I’d do it. |

I thought he was only sent there on the conditioning stint? If he was assigned to the phantoms he would have had to clear waivers? I could also be wrong. |

They can still make the playoffs. Unless they're blown away with an offer, its status quo.
There is a Comcast bottom line to protect. |
