I’m not gonna jump down your throat, but bogo is not on the same level as risto. Put bogo on the top line against top players every night logging top mins and he’d be exposed badly or worn down. It’s not even close man, I’m no risto lover but this is silly. - Carubba-Kaleta
I think you missed the point - they are both being asked to play above their ability. Not sure how you took the post as suggesting that Bogo could replace Risto - that is the opposite of what I was saying. |

Sam went with a new version last night.
“They have some of the best players in the world over there.”
I guess that means it’s not a good, complete team, but the stars are great enough to carry them. |

Watch the game over again and tell me how many times you here Gord Miller say Eichel’s name in relation to Matthews. Matthews is God given scorer but disappears for long stretches, in game, and over the span of games much more then Eichel does. Eichel has more of an impact then point totals say and that’s why I like him more then Matthews. If Eichel goes pointless you still know he plays, when Matthews goes pointless you have to check the stat sheet to see that he played. That’s my opinion after watching 60 Leaf Games and 40-45 Sabre games this year. - Pegullaville
I haven't watched a lot of Leafs games but in the ones I've seen Mathews just feels... different. Maybe he wasn't thrilled with the introduction of Tavares and the move to 2C. I think if you were starting a franchise from scratch you'd have to pick Matthews over Jack but I do think the gap has narrowed. |

I got the text last night
"tired of sh#tty goaltending knocking us out of games early. If the kid outplays them in the fall he gets a spot. I don't care if I have to carry 3 goalies on this roster"
you tell me what that means?
don't ask for what I hear and then piss on my leg and tell me it's raining

Given what they're paying both goaltenders, I'm not sure how you could expect much different. |

I know these 3 will always get compared
But i just don’t care really who is ahead of who
Idk why so many ppl focus on it either?

Who cares about this crap. Let's get Eichel the help that Matthews has so the Sabres can make the playoffs too. |

Isn't that the point of a discussion board? All of this is a waste of time - that's why we are here.

But Ristolainen is consistently “exposed badly” against top lines. |

I really don't care about this argument but you do realize that Eichel played 5 more minutes than Matthews last night, right? And the powerplays were 5-1 in Buffalo's favour. So of course Eichel is going to have the puck more than Matthews did last night.
Both are great players. Both are different types of players. Eichel is a pass first guy and Matthews is a scorer 1st. Be happy with Eichel because Leafs fans are thrilled with Matthews. |

First, Risto probably wouldnt get a monster load for the obvious reasons you stated. He isnt a top line D. Based on what I have seen of him, he looks like a top 4 d though.
Do you not even want him in your top 4? Didnt think he was that bad honestly. |

This^^
Watching the game last night I was so impressed with that top line of the Sabres, they are incredibly good, the problem is, that is it, you have nothing after your top line and it doesn't matter how good they are they simply can't carry 4 lines.
Late in the game when Kapanen scored short handed, you guys had that top line out for the whole penalty, even after the whistle they were left out there and I am sure they were exhausted but your coach doesn't have the confidence in anyone else.
This is not a dig at the Sabres, I would love to see the rivalry back after a number of years of both of us not being very good but it seems to me you guys kind of have all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

Exactly. Why can't we both be happy that we have great players, and a great rivalry brewing for years to come. |

I honestly think all the losing has gotten to him where in this point of his career he’s just going through the motions if the Tampa Bay rumors are true I think that’s a great place for his game to be Successful |

He's a solid top 4 d-man. People around here just jump from one whipping boy to the next. |

Dude get's a pass because he "plays against the other teams top players" I am so sick of that argument... He is a defensive dumpster fire. -25 for the year... and plus/minus does tell a story, he is not very good at keeping guys from scoring on us.... |

Risto needs to be carried by an extremely reliable defenseman in his own end. |
