That’s fair. But he also has implemented a clown show defensive zone coverage system that frequently leaves the slot WIDE open. - EnzoD
Yeah, cause that wasn't happening under Q. That's been an issue going back at least the last two seasons.
They didn't suddenly go from being good to bad under JC. They went from (frank)ing horrid to (frank)ing horrid. |

Is Hamilton much of an upgrade over Gustafsson, especially considering the difference in $? - Ogilthorpe2

Keith would be a third pairing, and Seabs would be like Michael Rozival his last 2 years here. - LAHawk
The numbers don't bear that out though. At least regarding Keith. |

Better than Josi and Ekholm on LD? or even Subban and Ellis?. |

Gus is cheap for next year but will want 4 or 5M as a UFA after that if he continues his offensive output. Not that much of a difference in a couple of years. |

You would be surprised how equally Keith matches up against them at evens. In fact, Josi is a negative in Relatives. Meaning his team is better when he isn't on the ice.

I am old and do not understand many fancy stats, so excuse the question, What factors/input goes in to determining relatives?

Healthy scratch Keith for awhile and watch the really good teams in the NHL put up goals in double digits against the rest of this defence group. |

Critiquing the defensive system based on the results presupposes that a different defensive system using the same players would produce better results. I didn't notice the results were better before Colliton took over or to put it a different way - Colliton's defensive system is not producing worse results. The defense has been a clown show all season - pre and post Colliton. Maybe it's a case of the players not being talented enough or dedicated enough to play good defense than a shortcoming of the defensive system being played.

Their raw numbers in comparison to their team mates. SATs both for and against. expected GF and GA. A couple of their numbers are slightly better but they are also on much better teams in shot suppression. Which the Hawks are terrible at doing. |

No problem. Keith is still damn good. Not at his Norris level but he still is a top pairing D-man. |

Takes time. plus the jackets should be able to mount a comeback with that group of D-men playing for the Pens |

50 some odd games seems a bit early to judge the guy, imo. What he has done is made the PP dangerous. Got 3 time Cup winners to buy in to whatever he is selling. His team is playing hard for him. I can't think of many mistakes that come from a lack of effort from the group. Those that have happened have been dealt with either benchings or being a healthy scratch. - Elbows15
So, to follow your "logic" ( term used very loosely).....
50 some odd games for a coach, that you presumably watched the great majority of, is too soon to judge.
Yet, 50 some odd NHL games, of which you saw a few at 4am, gooped up on nicotine, were more than enough for you to deem strome a bust?
Gotcha, ya crusty old sore |

Watching some of Hartman's Philly debut. Left his skates to deliver a high hit on Dahlin.
Note: he did always strike me as a bit of a Broad Street Bully. |
