Send Tage to Rochester
Let him hopefully kick some butt down there for the rest of this year & the playoffs

He seems like the kind of forward the Ducks like, and they’re still gonna be making moves this offseason

Tage + for Rakell
or even better...

Tage, Nylander, + for Rakell & Manson
*then we can trade Risto for a forward

No, the whole point of rooting for them to lose so they can gain an extra spot or two of draft position. And I'm done with that, you have to transition to winning, and rooting for winning at some point. There is no evidence that prolonged losing gets you anything but more losing.

Exactly
It’s not like we can tank our way to a Top3 pick
So cheering for us to lose is kinda ridiculous

You can't cheer them on if they refuse to play a full 60 minutes. They just don't care and the coach cannot motivate the troops.

Hughes and Kakko are their own tier. Then there is another tier between pics 3-9 by the looks of it. Then a tier through picks 10-15. I’d rather pick in the 8 or 9 slot then pick in the 10-15 range but there should be good players to be had anywhere in the top 15 picks. Chances are we get a better one if we pick in the 7-9 range though, hence why I want to keep losing. We miss the playoffs no matter what this year barring a miracle, might as well pick earlier in the draft.

Olofsson has a shot at top 6 but needs to dominate the AHL like he did his first 20 games.

Asplund can be the future 3rd or 4th line C.

Smith to me is an average 3rd liner and might
just be a really good 4th line player if he can add PK to his arsenal.

Malone I like but he’s always injured and I haven’t monitored him in the AHL this year, MHP might have a better idea then I do as he watches Rochester closely.

Borgen, Dougherty, Hickey have potential to be NHLers even if they are just 6 or 7 that can play on the cheap.

- Pegullaville

I would agree that Olofsson will get a strong look at camp next year. Asplund needs another year in the AHL, maybe two and I don't see him anything more than a 4C at the NHL level. Eventually, he could be Larry's replacement as the 4C. Davidsson fits into that mold too but will he pull a Gustav Possler? We'll see. Smith's ceiling is as a 3LW.

In my opinion Malone will never be an NHL'er. His injuries started in college (hip surgery) and this year I think it was a knee. He missed Sabres dev camp one year because of another injury. He just can't stay healthy and that slows his development. He needs more AHL time and frankly needs to play a full season to develop properly.

Borgen has been the most improved dman in Rochester and he can make some noise at camp next year. Dougherty has been really good lately after sitting out games early in the season due to too many d men in Rochester and Taylor's love for MacWilliam. Hickey needs more development.

Nylander is a bust, plain and simple. I was really excited with his play in some games earlier in the season but he has a long struggle to make it.

Just my .02

edit- I see Dougherty sat last night. How do the kids develop when you play bums like Tennyson?

who is going to be the tough guys up front if we ever make the playoffs

this is a soft perimeter team as of now that would get bounced early every year w/o a hasek or lehner like performance in net

Hughes and Kaako are the consensus 1 and 2. I would include Podkolzin in that tier. In that next tier 4-9 there is Cozens, Boldy, Zegras, Dach, Krebs, Byram/Broberg and Turcotte in that group. At 10-15 there is a strong group- Newhook, Kaliyev, Suzuki and Soderstrom/York. If the Sabres are in that 10-15 for their own pick, they'll get a good young player.

Just a guess but if we are in the 8-10 pick, I would like Boldy or Broberg. If it's 10-15, Newhook or Kaliyev, maybe Suzuki.

we are playing at last years pace after the 10 game win streak

I expect panthers, yotes, rangers, hawks and nucks to all pass us in the next week

when the dust settles I bet we are a bottom 5 team at the end of the year

and we had a 88% chance to make the playoffs after the streak

lack of heart
lack of effort
lack of leadership top to bottom

you add skinner and dahlin and still suck

Yep, very discouraging. Botterill did nothing early in the season so he sticks to his plan. Major fail imo.

passing
shooting
grit
energy
starting a game strong
clearing the front of your net
playing out the entire shift
skating back in your own end hard
focus and discipline

all big issues with this team, and it comes from within each player, not the man behind the bench chewing gum

Isn't it the coaches job to bring out the best in each player? Isn't that what your leader is supposed to do? You cannot teach skill, but effort? If you trust your leader you go out and give it everything you got every shift every game. And this team CLEARLY does not do that.

maybe phil is bringing out the best in some of these sorry sacks

I don't subscribe to the theory you need a letter to be a leader

this falls on the shoulders of about 14 skaters every night and 2 guys between the pipe

it's pathetic that they are playing at last years pace again

Anyone notice on the Sabres page here that Marco is under the buyout section for the cap breakdown on the right?

That's fortuitous.
