Salo was awesome
- SMBDragon

He was when healthy. The PP literally has not been the same without him for years. Just goes to show how important that Right Hand shot is on the PP.

Pouliot and Guddy divorce and instantly Pouliot is a +2. Seriously, Guddy is a curse on his partners. Just watching Schenn and I feel more confident. That's not pumping Schenn's tires, it's an indictment on Guddy's game. Every goal against, I look to see if 44 is on the ice...guess what? HE IS! Good luck, but more so, good riddens!

Canucks automatically better and the players who were forced to play with him...

lol I just like to bug Kap about it. He had two decent seasons in MTL after the left Van and Kap was blowing up saying we should have kept him. Like most scrubs he has been an absolute plug every other year he has played in the NHL. Career 4th liner that can fill in when injuries hit. Much in the way Gaunce is a career AHL'er nothing more lol.
- LordHumungous

Lol... He was a sensation for Montreal in the playoffs and a fan favourite..

Even Rookie coaches have to start somewhere. Green is still 50/50 with me but I do think he is communicating with the kids well. I still believe that having a coach that played all those NHL games will help and translate to the players. Next year is the key for Green. Ownership will want this team in the PO's next year...needs to be a good showing for him.

I think it's fair to give Green at least one more year. It's his second year as head coach?

I don't want to be like Edmonton and have a new coach every year. Brown on the other hand, got to go.

lol sensation is a bit much but the fans did like a little of his tenacity even though he never won a fight...ever. A decent utility guy that can fill in on the 4th line for the most part. Spooner had two good years too...

His is a smug, condescending ass hat that plays petty favourites and is out-coached by the opposition time and again. Not sure that being a former NHL player means jack sh*t to the pampered millennial players these days.

Agreed. The back pass has become... a little predictable. My entries would start and end with Petterson, and he would play the entire power play. I'm all for mentors, but Tanev and Edler make Sami Salo look like an ironman.
- Kimadanoha

Hughes is going to change what they can do there, the strategy has to have the personnel to match.

They've exceeded most poeples expectations on this board, I don't see how you can go from that to he has to go when 90% of us said this was a bottom 5 team. Just makes zero sense.

Not necessarily- he had value in the summer. He was injured all season and his value disintegrated. (frank)er has to get healthy
- CanuckDon

i had this thought last night. hopefully he produces a tad if "healthy" and we can ship him out

Ian Clarke is one of the reasons for that. I do agree that I don't think anyone expected us to be where we are. Win or lose, hockey has been fun to watch. Except the dang drop pass on the PP.

Hes better than the last 2 coaches hired and they were interviewed and had NHL experience. I like his smug condescending behaviour and think he has done some good.

Every coach players favorites, some just pick better players to play favorites with...

Willie had zero NHL experience and Torts admitted he wasn't really into it.

Edit: Torts was essentially hired by Aqualini.

No he wasn't.....he played in all the important areas doing all the right stuff

When you look at his injuries, taking a slapshot to the face requiring surgery, slapshot to the testicles, cheap slewfoot from marchand.....etc. The guy was a warrior

Yup...I’d like to see what green could do with a roster with some talent. His second line 67% AHL plugs. And Stecher is his top D lol

That's the price we have to pay if you want a high draft pick. I
am still not on team tank. I enjoy whining.

Yes the team has made big strides and they are often fun to watch again.

I'd say the biggest vote of confidence in green is how he's gotten players to find their games. Markstrom for example. Virtanen another. Even LE has had a better year.
It maybe the unreachable are the soon traded.....

Green has done well. As for being outcoached, sure.. But he may not be revealing his poker hand. I'm hoping he's saving this for playoffs
