Linden shed a lot of blood in a Canuck jersey. If you don't respect him, you don't respect the franchise. - micah555
I don’t think nucker was actually saying linden was a wimp. Just criticizing. You’re judged on your last success or failure. That’s life in the public eye.
Linden got himself into a no-win situation. The glow of his on ice reputation was bound to dim a bit stepping behind a desk. Especially working for a guy who has a reputation for being a bit impulsive.
TL is a hero but deserves criticism for his work as team prez.

Yeah, he was fairly highly touted and I recall him having pretty good promise early in his career.
I think injuries took a bit of a toll.
There are definitely flags (that's why he's not a tier 1). - dbot
Maybe we’re seeing the end of the big dman era in the NHL? IMO modern dmen have to be fast, be able to separate player from puck quickly, constantly make that outlet pass, and contribute offensively (especially on the PP). The need for big hits and aggressive play seems to have diminished.

One could argue that Benning has in fact, targeted tier 2 (or 3) type players. That he’s paid them like “big names” is the issue... - 1970vintage
Agree about contract amount and term. Most have been head scratchers.
I think signing those tier two players is a safer way to go but the down side is that it will take much longer to “rebuild” the roster and organizational depth.

Linden stepped into a thankless role to help the franchise. The team was on a down slide and Aquilini brought him in to keep tickets sales. He served as a player and captain, got traded for another round of blue chips, then came back and was a classy bastard again. His presidency ending on a quiet note was the same as how he always conducted himself.
Calling Linden a beta is about as low brow as I'd expect from a Flyers fan or any fair weather Canuck 'fan'.
Funny, I remember the hype around Myers similar to that of Guddy. Both touted as big dominant dmen. I see red flags but can’t tell you exactly why. - bloatedmosquito
Tanev has missed 23.4% of his games to injury
Myers has missed 27.5% of his games to injury

Hmmm... you’ve convinced me.
Nucker’s a clown. Go ahead and give the boy some education.

I wasn’t being 100% serious but I do respect the hell outta Linden as a player. My dad met the dude multiple times back when he worked 2 jobs as a screening officer at YVR + UPS driver. Linden was his 2nd fav player behind Bure.
I just don’t think much of this whole post-President’s Trophy era regime outside of Brackett and his American draft scouts, and perhaps Green.

so benning is preaching patience and franky seems to be on board
that may suggest trev was the one who was impulsive?
he was the human shield the franchise needed to ride out the sedin era unfortunately for him

They dont have enough talent to be in the playoffs. 3 legit forwards plus gaudette maybe and sven we healthy the rest are supreme border line for their role. Zero top 2 dmen Hutton and stech wre showing well but we are losing almost every game ie we aren't good enough. We need to move on from edler we need to move on from tanev giys who get hurt hurt our team. Stop kidding ourselves and cut out the garbage and move on.
Green has them playing with heart ut man do we need a fresh pp guy - Jkuzzi
Next years roster should technically be good enough to get them a sniff of the WC spot by the end of the season. I'm not saying playoffs are a lock but they will have a good shot at it plus like you said a few more ingredients will be gone/added.

They really have nothing in common in terms of how they play hockey, this is like a kesler in his prime to domi comparison - neem55
Myers is big and tall, so's gudbranson
Myers was a high draft pick, so's gudbranson
Myers has a deteriorating skill set, so's gudbranson
Myers has moved down the lineup over the past two seasons, so's gudbranson
Myers is overrated by other teams fans, so's gudbranson
Myers is denigrated by his teams fans, so's gudbranson
Myers is slow, so's gudbranson
Myers had a heavy slap shot, so's Gudbranson's
Myers is a better player then gudbranson, yes, but he's 29 this year and will get a 7x7m deal with NTC. By the time he's 33 he'll be a bigger anchor then edler.
Myers is also injured more then any of Our current defensemen, including edler and tanev.

Nothing? We got Fatty! 1st in the west, 2nd in the league. I know you'll be cheering for us! Canada's team, - K-man25
lol the Jets are Canada's team...Flames not so much.
Your team is good...but still lack a few crucial pieces for a deep PO run. Should be a 2nd rd exit. Reg season don't mean jack in the PO's champ...just ask SJ NSH
