Our big problems on D were Pouliot who should be gone , Gudbrandson who is gone . Biega is not ideal but was not a black hole like the other two.

Hughes will be an upgrade on Puliot. If you can replace Gudbrandsons toughness with a cheaper guy (Schenn ) then swapping out often injured Tanev would be an upgrade on three of the 6 spots . I consider that a win.

Totally agree, and I don’t think you need to trade a pick to do that. Small step for next season. Small step the season after. And next year and the year after that.

I don’t believe that “trading one 1st round pick” can “fix” “the” “d”. So I’d rather keep all the draft picks and take the time to do it right. Quick fixes got us in the mess we’re in now.

If he’s not an NHL player he should be in the AHL. But I don’t think that’s the case, Boeser is most definitely an NHL player.

I think a ver realistic call this off season should be for Dante Fabbro to try and work something out.

Disagree. Benning dismantles Gillis’ mess pretty quickly, and built his own mess. He tried quick fix after quick fix and now he’s undoing them. If the owner is actually all in on playoffs next year, they will certainly do something stupid they will regret later.

Trading a natural goal scorer for a legit top 2 dman of the same age isnt a bad move.

The people saying they wouldnt make the move I do understand but I would like to know what position they played growing up. Almost any player on a team says the same stuff over over over. Good centers solid de puck moving and shutdown and you can win. Every forward wants a de who can move the puck.
