A Hughes-Barzal combo gives them a better chance to win a cup in a few years no ? What about Kakko on Barzals wing ? Or even Turcotte/Zegras as a 2C or Byram leading their defense corps for the next 15 years ? Unless Trotz wizardry extends to next season you don’t think this team is bound to disappoint and sink back into the abyss ? Even if they do make the playoffs again next year who is going to put them over the top ?

Let’s say we get Turcotte this year
Won’t we be better off in the long run if we rank again next year to try for Lefreniere?
What about the year after that?

When do u arbitrarily decide that it’s time to try & win?
