All politics. The AHAI board has members from all 4 AAA (Tier 1) teams in the state. They don’t want the competition of a 5th team. The proposed Reapers team also claims they will be lower cost than the 4 current IL teams. It’s too bad, because they could use a AAA team on the north shore. The others are too far south for many players, which is why many head up to Milwaukee and play for the Jr. Admirals. Admirals are cheaper too. |

The Hawks are tied with Edmonton and Vancouver with 63 points. There are only 5 teams with less points - Ottawa (51), Detroit (55), Los Angeles (56), New Jersey (58) and Anaheim (59).
The Hawks have 16 games remaining and only 2 of those games are against teams on that list (Vancouver and L.A.). Of the other 14 games, 8 are against teams currently in playoff positions and another 5 games are against teams still legitimately in the hunt to make the playoffs. The other game is against Buffalo this coming Thursday.
Therefore, let's just throw the whole defensive concept thing right out the window and go all out to score goals with the intention of losing games 10-7. Tell Kane and DeBrincat they're not allowed in the d-zone - they have to go full cherry picker and hang out just inside the red line waiting for a breakout pass (which really won't make the defense any worse anyway since neither of them can make a clearing pass anyway). Have the d-men pinch and dive into the o-zone all game long - 2-0 breakaways against our goalies be damned - we're here to score goals damn it.
I want to see Kane hit 50 goals and 120 points. I want to see DCat hit 45 goals and 82 points for a ppg average. I wand to see Toews have his career best scoring totals. I want to see Gustafsson hit 60+ points.
Entertainment! We want entertainment. If you can't make the playoffs - at least be entertaining. - EbonyRaptor
The comedy channell should not aka Blackhawks hockey. There has to be an organizational thread from the top down whereas a compete level exists. I understand when a team is out of the playoffs they tend to go through the motions. But teams also can play tough and care without having to be crazy kamikaze pilots out on the ice.
Entertainment should be the inclusion of defense and not glorified rat hockey. If Crawford is way below par, then he shouldn't play. I would love to embrace the tank, but that is to RIP off fans whom have paid a lot to see entertaining hockey and not Bozo Circus.
Sure we want Crawford to get his game together but please not more bad performance at another position -that being the goaltender. There is enough bad defense primarily from dmen and forwards not in place to help.
I want Colliton to bust their chops and appeal to their pride. Obviously there needs to be overcompensation from forwards whom help their dmen
Next season I bet half of the problems the young dmen experience comes from lack of confidance. That can be addressed by giving support and encouragrment.
Add a veteran on the back end and emphasis forwards backchecking could go a long ways toward improving the young dmen performance. Ward & Dellia\Crawford will have to do.
If Seabrook is victimized more than he is making savvy veteran plays, then what else can you do but make him a healthy scratch. He could become an ast coach with only certain responsibilities- bad idea does not work? I just don't know what you can do with Seabrook.
I DO KNOW THAT THIS TEAM HAS A CRYING NEED FOR A POWER FORWARD AND THERE ARE A FEW AVAILABLE BY PICK #7/8 ....................SO STAN..............PUT TOGETHER A GOOD OFFER AND TRY YOUR DARNDEST TO MOVE UP IN THE DRAFT
NOBODY has responded to whether my suggestion of giving away Gus just to move up in round one is practicly larceny.
You just have to hope by mid season that Jokiharju had been playing all along just fine, either Mitchell or Beaudin debuts and hopefully a Carlsson or Gilbert can arrive and play well enough. These dmen have the game or style wherein they could adopt to NHL but Colliton has to give them enough support.
Both Dahlstrom and Koekkoek have shown promise. The crap team defense this season certainly doesn't lend itself to their continual a strong defensive effort which both displayed early but not lately. If you include Forsling here, I would hope Forsling plays Rockford, Dahlstrom is depth here and Koekkoek gets his game on track. |

You sound angry. You better prepare yourself because this rebuild/retool is unlikely to show results for a while. Unfortunately some posters delude themselves and announce, as some did, that if the Hawks can slip into the playoffs "anything can happen". Other individuals think that a couple of holes get patched and the Hawks are cup contenders again. There is virtually no chance that can happen. Toews and Kane will very likely not be cup winners again while wearing the Indian head.
Rebuiding will take good drafting, a comprehensive development system, wise trades, discipline to not try to force things by trying to find short cuts through free agency, solid cap management, some out of the box thinking and allot of luck. The process will take a few years and then may not yield anything but a playoff team. Enjoy the rebuild because that's all the entertainment we as Hawk fans are going to get for the next few years. |

Why Boqvist Likely Won't be Ready for NHL
What you hear is a big ol' whoosh of air going out of the McD, StanBo PR balloon. . . - pdx2ord
I am sure the front office are well aware of Boqvist's strengths and weaknesses and how long they anticipate it will take him to get to the NHL long before this article came out. While it has changed over the last number of years, very few teenagers are capable of playing in the NHL and there are even less defensemen. The Hawks and Hawk fans want a fully developed Boqvist, not a guy who is only capable of playing a partial game. The Hawks do not need another Gus situation. Another year in London under the tutelage of the Hunters then a stint in Rockford to get a taste of the pro game is my guess. |

JC/Hawks will healthy scratch Seab not with him making almost 7 mildo per. They havr to limit his minutes (as they have been) 15 minutes or less.
I would not move gus not with a year left at 1.2 mildo. I might even extend him to keep contract cost lower. Another 15 goal/60 pt plus season from him and you are looking at least 5 mil per for 4 years. Better hope he begins to "get it" defensively.
Even one of the hawks young prospects makes it to the roster next year they are looking at two young (20 year old) with joki. Still makes this blueline a problem. Stanbow has to find at least 2 quality mid 20 dman that can handle 1-2nd pairing minutes.
The defensive problems are not just personnel and talent: the well known aging and drop off of 72, the system, confidence and will. And now they have a goalie problem: an aging concussed craw (his trade value has plummeted) and a young delia.

There is no reason to push Boqvist into the NHL next year. And the same should have been done with Joki this year. You are wasting ELC years while they are still developing into men's bodies.
Also we need those extra years so that Keith and Seabrook are not there when these guys need to get paid. |

Where are in Canada you working? I'm in Southern Ontario, it's far colder than it has been in years. I don't really mind the cold although I have had enough of it this year. Go buy a Timmys and a touque EH! |

I'll start getting exciting about Bo when GIFs and clips of him shutting somebody down while playing Defense start showing up on twitter, till then...He's Gus Jr. |

Honest question for the board....
Is Gus worse as a defender than Karlsson (sp?) was while running wild in Ottawa? He used to get a beating for his defense, too, but how do we compare? Do the fancies tell us anything, or are we to rely on the eye test of various watchers?
Or do we just rely on Elbows as the ultimate judge? |

He's put on 20 pounds of lean muscle. Got a few pimples on his back as a side effect, but he's ready to play with men. |

My brother coaches Steve Dry's son. Dry has done an incredible job with the Falcons program out of Highland Park. He has been looking at a number of different locations to possibly get a AAA charter off and running. |

Elbows IS the ultimate judge, just ask him.
In my humble opinion Karlsson is terrible defensively, better than Gus mainly because he doesn't make the mental mistakes Gus makes. I remember Andrew Shaw walking past Karlsson and I'm sure Karlsson is still looking for his jockstrap. Give me a younger Keith or Doughty over Karlsson any day. |
