It's just one of those nitpicky things that annoys me. I mean, besides a few ubber feminists that had nothing better to do than complain about the anthem, how many women honestly cared or were somehow offended by that? Was it really necessary to change a part of our heritage, our national anthem?

I'm totally behind women when they want to protest because battered women aren't getting enough support, or because they feel they're not given fair treatment in some situation or other, but little things like this, changing the word "sons" in the anthem just kind of annoy me.

It's one of those situations where you ask yourself if people aren't becoming a little too sensitive.

I get both sides, and honestly...it’s just a song. Don’t really care about “heritage” or “symbolisms.” No one’s life was made worse by changing a word. So again, meh.

What I do know, is that if the original anthem had the word "daughters" in there instead of "sons", I wouldn't have been protesting to get it changed.
