Yep, loving the Ennis signing. God help the team that signs him next year though (hopefully the habs). - TheMussel

Agreed.
My folks couldn't afford it. So i played ball hockey.
Still love playing it. - Fakepartofme
I played some in Edmonton, but haven't got the chance yet out here.
Hope to get back into it soon |

Cherry--Skoal was pulling the you-didn't-play-hockey card on everyone that disagreed with him.
Ironically, I didn't play hockey (parents couldn't afford it, but played a ton of road hockey) but I was actually agreeing with him

He just thinks he's too kool for skoal |

poop I can't afford to play ice hockey now, so I play ball hockey. - TheMussel
Same (and soccer and Ultimate).
When I grew up, all the rich kids played hockey; hated most of them
I did play a bunch of shinny too: we had tennis courts that just flooded one year with an early thaw, and the city basically pulled a why-didn't-I-think-of-that and started putting up plywood, etc. to make a real rink out of it. Tons of fun.
I remember making goalie pads out of phone books duct taped to my old man's old pair of jeans |

I love how Dubas is on top of poop and gets low key good players to fill out the roster and cheap. Ennis for under 700k, and Moore is signed for 2 mooore years at 775k.
Also moving out Par who was a UFA for Petan who is younger and cheaper and and RFA who can fill in next season on the cheap
not signing poopty players like Komarov and Martin for 2.5mil + to give you less value and become cap problems. - senstroll
Agree with this - all excellent minor moves - fourth line has been money lately. |

You have to think that at some point, he's going to exert some pressure (if he hasn't already) to play certain players.
Every GM says that they don't interfere with lineups, and in principle, sure, but if my guys are doing stupid poop I'm not going to sit there and say, "welp, I won't micro-manage so I'll let them (frank) this project up royally!" - gravyface
As much as I don't really care for Brian Burke, he made a comment on Sportsnet recently about this very idea that I have to agree with. I don't recall the specifics of which team he was referring to, but he basically said - a Coach's job is to come up with a line-up and strategies to win games. If he doesn't do that, he gets fired. If, as a GM, you tell the coach who to play, you're basically telling him how to do his job, and you can't really justify firing him if he doesn't get the results - because then it's on you.

I think we played a near perfect road game. Got a bit filled in during the 2nd period and Freddy made some great saves all night, but with our injuries, on the road, against the #2 in the league, can't really ask for much more than that. - gravyface
I thought the 1st was worse then the 2nd....knew it would be a tough game. Good thing for Freddie and a little luck.
We wouldn't win a series playing that way against them.
It was nice to see us pile up the goals though |

Doubt he sign for under 1m. It could be argued he woukd have got 35 - 40pts had he played all 82 games.

You laugh, but they were awesome. I remember a kid came out with his dad's nice leather belts wrapped around their (frank)ing couch cushions strapped to his legs
Those belts would've been put to use in another way when he got home. |

He's like #2 in points per dollar or whatever, fancy stats wise. I think his points per 60 rivals the big guns on our team too. |
