5 times they went to the shootout won twice. 4 more points. But even with the OT games, it does show why no one gets into the playoffs after Feb. All teams need to do is trap and get to overtime.

Anyway, pretty lame that a team gets a bigger reward for having more OT losses than reg wins. Bizarre.

Good morning, My Leafy friends.

It's been a long 9 months for Mrs. Wedgie, after her breast cancer diagnosis.

75 hospital visits.

Numerous mammograms and MRIs.

5 biopsies.

2 lumpectomies.

Chest reconstruction surgery.

And 25 sessions of radiation.

Today was her last session, and we walked out of Sunnybrook Hospital with her declared cancer-free.

A big plus was the fact that it was detected very early - by yours truly.

So tonight, I want all of you husbands and boyfriends to go home, have a bottle of wine with dinner, and have some sexy time before the Leafs game. Feel your partner up real good. Tell her you are doing it because Wedgie demanded you do so.

As much as I'd like to sound like a grumpy old man (I do yell at clouds) and simply call for the return of no OT, no shootout, 2 pts for a win, 1 pt for a tie, 0 for a loss, the simple truth is that the current system works very well for the NHL.

The fans love 3 on 3.

The owners love the 3 pt system.

It's not broken enough to need fixing.

I get why they have the loser point.

Look at the NBA, almost every team is out of the playoffs already. The NHL simply isn’t big enough in the USA for that to be okay to happen.

I just look at wins. Points are silly when evaluating how a team is doing.

Yup. Even if they gave nothing for an OT loss it would make a huge difference as fewer games go to the shootout now. Why do you get a point for 'making it to OT'? that's not accomplishing anything.

I'm not sure thats totally true. In the East the NBA still has several teams vying for a spot. The west is more or less locked up though. But in the NHL it appears as if teams still have a chance when with 3 point games they really don't.

Yeah, but there wasn't unlimited OT in regular season games. It just ended in a tie.

There was some strange American sense of finality that required that a winner be declared. That's why shootouts are there.

It's actually longer now if to goes to a shootout. They used to play 5 min OT and that was it.

I figure if they want to give a team a loser point for losing a gimmick non hockey game like the shootout, that's fine. But rewarding a team with a point for being tied after reg is dumb IMO.

Finally a realistic solution. Why hasn't anyone else thought of this?

I've never listened to Spittin Chiclets but I listened to the clip from today. Some super fan (I think?) that owns a restaurant across from the colliseum just eats poop for 10min then Avery comes on and the guy eats that much more poop for another 10min. Their fans are just embarrassing themselves at every turn.

Ya that super fan does a golf podcast for barstool. He’s pretty funny actually. I like that he was roasting Avery on Twitter then spittin chicklets set up a call so that Avery could be talking too.
