It'll change next December with his firing - jcragcrumple
Which is about a year too late
That (frank)ing 10-game win streak saved him another year of spastic jawing on the water-insoluble masticatory delivery system used to carry sweeteners, flavors, and any other substances in his chewing gum, most likely estrogen to block his logic-mechanism. |

I think so, Housley was a legit candidate. Wasn't like was only getting considered because he was alumni. - robz228
We had more than 1 guy with sources say it was pretty much 100% a Pegula decision. |

He certainly was a legit candidate. Some work out, many don't.

McCabe is far from being a real problem on this team, considering all the trash we have.
I can think of worse 5/6 Dmen. - Powerslave
I just don't think he is the solution
first it was a second pair d man
now he is down to the bottom pair, and if they keep risto, gonna hold a kid back who is probably better 2 years down the road |
|
|
|
he has gotten worse over the years
first few years, not afraid to make the pass
not afraid to join the rush
never noticed him in his own end, which is a good thing
now lazy passes picked off
doesn't join the rush
out of position in his own end
freezes a lot in his own end
feel free to tell me I am wrong but I thought when he signed the bridge deal, it was going to be so much value as I projected him as a second pair
now he is just another body, like scandella, nelson, hunwick and the former sabre beaulieu - homiedclown
fair enough...the things I liked about him was his willingness to stand up a player in the neutral zone and the way he could sneak in on the off wing in the o-zone...haven't seen much of that this season, or at least lately...not sure why
you can look at it this way, his raise won't be too much and hopefully he'll can anchor the third pairing at less than $2.5M

McCabe came into the league lighting dudes up with clean, big hits.
He basically almost killed Daniel Paille and the entire Bruins team tried to fight him for one of the cleanest and biggest hits I have ever seen.
Then he got jumped for bull-dozing Laine with a clean hit, too.
The NHL rewards cheap-shots and doesn't punish head-shots and it's basically killed clean hitting.
I'm actually shocked the Bogo hit on Petan the other night didn't get him suspended. |

Yeah, no. RJ needs to retire, unfortunately. He can hardly call the game for going on 5 years now. |

He was right in that case, though. McCabe didn't even lead with his shoulder. He squared up to Laine and pushed through with his hands. Their heads did hit. That's how McCabe got cut on the play |

I've always liked both McCabe and risto.
Both here for a lot of losing.
Could be their fault too |

A Hughes-Barzal combo gives them a better chance to win a cup in a few years no ? What about Kakko on Barzals wing ? Or even Turcotte/Zegras as a 2C or Byram leading their defense corps for the next 15 years ? Unless Trotz wizardry extends to next season you don’t think this team is bound to disappoint and sink back into the abyss ? Even if they do make the playoffs again next year who is going to put them over the top ? - Pegullaville
Of course
But can’t u just say that EVERY year?
With that line of thinking,
Every team in the league except for like 5 or 6 should be trying to tank every year
Let’s say we get Turcotte this year
Won’t we be better off in the long run if we tank again next year to try for Lefreniere?
What about the year after that?
And the year after that?
When do u arbitrarily decide that it’s time to try & win? |

How is keeping Risto holding McCabe back? - Powerslave
I just said if risto stays , mccabe is out of the top 4 IMO
risto is not holding mccabe back
those 2 are however the most disappointing d men for the sabres in the 18-19 season
how many games are those 2, not part of our 3 worst d men game in and game out |

I am willing to put up with his mistakes as long as he's willing to call games, until the next time the Sabres have a legit cup run. If they bring it home on the next run, it's a wonderful swansong to a legendary career. If they crap out again, he had his shot and it's time to step aside. |
